Rik,
Would you know what the price would be as a comparison of the Merc. Bravo package vs. your Arneson I guess the ASD 6 or 7? Or even the Merc. #6 vs yours? I know it's less, just how much...?
And as I voted on the poll and should I ever have the need or opportunity, I too would put Arneson's on my boat. Cat or Vee... Mercury makes great products, no doubt or question there, I would rather have the performance and relaibilty of the Arneson. Oh, I wouldn't jump, dive, or swim around the transom of most any boat... There's sharp pointy things back there...
Thanks Rik for the help as always, Ben

Andy, By the way, have you decided as to which drive to use?

I REALLY wish that OSS would allow them to be used in racing. The very first boat I raced had ASD 6's on it and I still think that it is/was one the the best boats that I have ever raced! Ben

48-52" from transom. Depends on the overhang of the certain boat, pics can be deciving, tape mearsure's don't lie. Jeff
Actually, your in-line 8's are 6" shorter than a SSM#6 and 50% less weight.

Rear entry would be the same if not somewhat better as our tie bar is lower on the V bottoms.
Now if you could only solve that problem of not being able to trim out..............

When the X is set at 4" above the bottom of the boat as they are on a SSM#6, they have as much trim as the Arneson.

Positive trim on any surface drive, and I am including BRAVO's when I say this, is an impossible feat. When the propellers are running at the surface, there in only one way to go and that is down as when trimmed upward they are pushing air.

Best scenario, imitate Peter, Reggie or Fiore. Make a boats bottom that works on its own and uses the HP to go forward rather than pick the boat's nose up and waste HP which cost speed.
