Fountain Powerboat Swings To 1Q Loss On Higher Costs >FPB
DOW JONES NEWSWIRES November 8, 2006 12:41 p.m. DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Fountain Powerboat Industries Inc. (FPB) swung to a first-quarter loss of $155,970, or 3 cents a share, from a year-earlier profit of $679,058, or 14 cents a share, as the cost of sales and other expenses rose. The Washington, N.C., maker of offshore sport powerboats and military support craft said sales rose 1.3% to $19.4 million from $19.2 million. Look before you leap Sean. Reading the reasoning for the poor perf I would question why implementing Lean Mfg. would be a mentionable drain. If implemented well there is no loss in producitivty. No mention of commodity pressures at all which must be a large negative driver of editda. It has been for most other domestic manufacturers. And ending expenses related to racing cannot be a good move. They need to advertise more, not less.
Reggie ought to put me in there, I'd get that ship righted :D BT :cool: |

I'm sure the cost of FRP went up with the oil prices and this summer. :( |

this time of year is the usual low for their stock which picks up steam usually during boat show season and slowly falls back as the season wears on..all the positive press from big order numbers during late winter and early spring usually helps things, then people come back to reality
