I have not seen that one. I did a lot of searching before I bought my 492C garmin. The best price that I found was from tigergps.com. I took the add with me to west marine and they matched it. I had rather buy from someone I know.

I have that model. I don't know about the XM capability though. If it has it I haven't used it. As far as the unit is concerned I like it very much. Very easy to use.

Re: Garmin 376C with XM WX?

I have the 276c and the 3010c. I have the xm and weather(only on the 3010c) and have been using it for about 18 months now. When I first signed up, I had plans to only use it during the summer and then sign up again in the spring. I have not turned it off. I think it is great!

Re: Garmin 376C with XM WX?

Here you go!

HXM WX Weather
http://www.xmradio.com/weather/overview.html
With XM WX Weather displaying, you have the confidence of knowing what weather lies ahead. With a subscription to XM WX Weather, you'll receive comprehensive graphical weather displays on your compatible Garmin for your plane, boat, vehicle or any fixed location in the continental U.S. and 100 miles into U.S. coastal waters. Over 20 different types of graphical weather information can be overlaid onto your compatible Garmin display (depending on the XM WX Weather package selected by the subscriber). XM WX Satellite Weather delivers location-specific, animated, high-resolution weather data, in chart-overlay form, directly to your Garmin GPS — without the need for a separate PC connection.

XM NavTraffic
http://www.xmradio.com/xmnavtraffic/index.jsp
Spend less time stuck in traffic by receiving up-to-date XM NavTraffic information on your compatible Garmin. See accidents before you come to a standstill, and route around them with your Garmin GPS. XM NavTraffic provides detailed NAVTEQ Traffic information overlaid on your GPS road maps. XM NavTraffic coverage is currently available in 22 markets. Basic weather data information is also included as part of the XM NavTraffic package. This weather information includes Current Conditions, 5 to 7 Day City Forecast (depending on the city information), and Severe Weather Alerts. See XM's website for more information on NavTraffic coverage in the U.S.

XM Satellite Radio
http://www.xmradio.com/learn/index.jsp
With a subscription to XM Satellite Radio, you finally get to listen to what you want, whenever you want to hear it! XM features 160 digital channels of commercial-free music including more than 30 channels of news, sports, talk and entertainment along with 20 dedicated channels of XM Instant Traffic & Weather. It also features the deepest playlist in the industry with access to over 2 million titles.

XM-Capable Receivers & Antennas
To receive XM services on your compatible Garmin GPS, an XM-capable receiver and antenna are needed to process and transmit the information to your unit. With some of our products, this receiver and antenna must be purchased separately. See the Product Compatibility section below to find out whether a receiver and antenna are included with the purchase of your unit. Currently, Garmin offers the following receivers/antennas:

GDL™ 30/30A

Designed for our Marine Network units, the GDL 30 weather data receiver — when combined with its GA 31 XM satellite antenna (included) — bring real-time graphical and textual weather coverage to your compatible Garmin. Mariners wanting to add XM Satellite Radio to the package can opt for the GDL 30A receiver, which provides over 160 channels of XM Satellite Radio in addition to XM WX Weather. XM WX Weather and XM Satellite Radio subscriptions are required.

Re: Garmin 376C with XM WX?

Lots of new marine nav coming from garmin. I just got a email blast at work of like 10 new marine units just released for 07. The screen is kinda small on the one you mentioned here , just my feeling. I like the largest screen I can afford. The weather feature is hot.

Back4More 04-01-2009 01:00 AM

Well would you look at that, did a search on Garmin units and found myself 2 1/2 years ago talkng about this thing...anyway.

I bought the 378C with the GXM-30 WX ant. and plan on using it with the Master Mariner subscription.
Has anyone used a Garmin with the BlueChart and or g2 data cards?
Any concerns or comments?

I had the older 176C model and when it died about 5 months ago got the 376C. The screen is active screen as compared to older model and I really like it. As stated above, sorta small, but is largest screen that would fit on dash nicely. Garmin GPS are best, easyiest to use IMO. I can't comment on the XM weather, other then I have seen it at boat shows and is pretty cool. But I don't do enough offshore stuff to justify the monthly costs. 99.99% of the time I am inside and can run away and hide from storms in the summer. I actually found mine for a good deal from amazon.com believe or not they beat other GPS specific sites.
