Update on my eyes

Well today I got the good news. It looks like my eyes will be ok. Still haveing the occasional problem with them but all and all they are getting better. I have had more blood work and eye tests done to me then I care to ever go through again but man I can not imagine going with out my eyes!!! They gave me a very light scrip for reading glasses and they also think that my new truck having a white hood is reflecting a lot of light into my eyes that I am not used to. SO some very good glasses for when out doors. You guys would not believe the tests that they can do on your eyes it is really cool. I got to see laser pictures of the back of my eyes. Kind of interesting. SO I have to go back and do check ups but all seems ok. I just wanted to thank all you guys for the kind words emails and thoughts while I went through all that crap. :D :D

Audio,
Very glad to hear you are going to be OK, but what was the cause/story behind what happened? Can you summarize? I am looking into corrective surgery.

It's the Audio/hooter test

DONZIMAN2 02-07-2002 08:35 AM

Hey Dude that is great. See if they will write you a script for a paint job on the truck. LOL. I know a guy that got his doc to write one for a swimming pool due to handicap problems with his knees. Best wishes for a full recovery.

Gary C 02-07-2002 08:52 AM

I was just thinking about you yesterday! Glad to hear that everything is OK. Also check out those glasses that Nick posted. They are the best. I have Revo h2o's and my buddy has the Maui Jim's, they are really good glasses! Both a little pricy though, but your eye's are worth it!

Cord 02-07-2002 08:54 AM

Chart 02-07-2002 06:00 PM

That's good news Jon.

I've had two pair of Maui Jim's and prefer the black lenses to the brown lenses. The brown just don't cut the brightness of the sun, but work well in haze.

The typhoon style did a great job of cutting the light, but I broke them. Sent in to the factory (in Peoria, Ill, oddly enough) and they were backordered on that style, and could not repair them. Sent me a catalog and told me to choose ANY model I wanted, even the most expensive one.

Yes, they are expensive, but that's great service.

Good Luck with your eyes.

cuda 02-07-2002 06:47 PM

What were you diagnosed with? Two years ago, I was diagnosed with optic neuritis, which is a swelling of the mylen around the optic nerve. The doc scared me when he said it is often a precursor to MS  It has gotten better over the past two years, the only time I can tell it is there is when I get overheatd.

Glad you are on the way back, it is scary thinking you may go blind.

HavasuCat 02-07-2002 06:58 PM

I have been having vision problems (blurred vission, unequal pupils some times) for over a year now. It all started one night when I had extreme pressure in my head similar to a migraine but without the pain. The doctors have not been able to diagnose me with anything so far. I was checked for everything including optic nueritis. What were you symptoms?

cigarette1 02-07-2002 10:46 PM

That's good news Jon. Take care of yourself.

Audiofn 02-07-2002 11:50 PM

Again thanks to everyone.

HavasuCat I do have a hydrosyphalic shunt. It drains fluid from my head to my stomch. My first thought was that I was having trouble with that. When that screwes up or breaks I will get double vision and painfull headachs so bad that I pass out. Thankfully that has only happend once to date. The eyes I was having my periferal vision was blurry and my eyes just over them were very sore. It was not comfortable to look at and still is not anything bright.

Great to hear Jon.... realize that you are only a stone's throw away from the best Medical Specialists in the country. One good thing about being clost to Bawston. --- John

HavasuCat 02-08-2002 01:53 PM

Wow, sounds like it is very uncomfortable. I am glad to hear you are getting better, I don't think my problems are the same. Dealing with all the different doctors can be a pain in the ass, they all have there own opinions as to what is wrong. I guess when they say they are "practicing" medicine they really mean it. Thanks for the answer.
