Better rough water boat ???

Which is a better rough water boat 38' top gun (flat bottom) or the 40" hustler. I am going to buy one of the 2 and wondering if anyone has the experiance with either or both.

Thanks

top gun! 40 Hustler is known as a "bobber".

I've been on both and the TG is better hands down albeit slower...

Our 40 Hustler ran great in rough water. Always kept the tabs and drives level and let the hull do the work.

Most on this board love Cigs, so I am sure 95% will pick the TG. I have only been on one TG, and it ran great in rough water.

Interesting, the guy that bought my boat sold his TG to buy the Hustler. However, truth be told that he wanted a bigger cabin with a real head. Very different boats IMO.

40" hustler might be a little tight in the cockpit! :drink:

If your talking about the Hustler Fiore 40, that's what I'd pick.

Hustler is probably heavier, and has more freeboard.

I've seen a Cig TS 38 follow a Fiore 40 on Lake St. Clair - the Fiore would be more stable.

But...the Fiore 40 is gonna require more HP to get the same top speed as a twin step (TS) Cig. The non step Cig Top Gun- I'm not sure.

I'd guess one would feel safer in the Fiore with its tall freeboard.

And....the Fiore 40 looks bigger when rafted next to the Cig. In the bay (muscamoot) the Fiore 40 always looks like the largest boat. Kinda makes the Cigs look small.

And....there are 2 things in life that you always want to be bigger.

They are both nice boats, and both can be considered "rough water boats".

And I think(haven't tried) you can stand up and do it doggy style in the Fiore 40( with it's tall cabin)- and you'll have room to hold the portable video camera on your shoulder. In the cig you'll be doin it missionary.
