AudioFN,
Stock in what way? I though about what you said and I visited the ABPA Web site and looked @ the Engine Rules for Super Cat and here is a partial download of the rules:

D. ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS -

1. DISPLACEMENT: Maximum 510 CID, minimum 495 CID per engine, (1020 CID total).

2. COMPRESSION RATIO: The maximum compression ratio allowed is 12:1 measured by whistler device calibrated at race site with master cylinder.

3. VALVE SYSTEM:
(a) Number - Two valves per cylinder operated via pushrods with one camshaft located in the block at the original General Motors OEM location.
(b) Maximum gross cam lift - measured at the valve is .720 inch with zero lash.
(c) Variable cam timing - is not allowed.
(d) Types - Pneumatic valves, hollow stem valves or ceramic valves are not allowed.
(e) Intake valves: Stainless steel, or titanium allowed
(f) Exhaust valves: Stainless steel or Inconel only. (titanium not allowed)
(g) Minimum valve stem diameter - is 11/32” inch.

4. BLOCK:
(a) Cast iron - must be approved by APBA.
(b) Chevrolet - design blocks with 9.8" or 10.2" deck heights are approved.
(c) Chevrolet - design blocks manufactured by General Motors and World Products (Merlin) are approved. The following part numbers are approved.
(d) GM part numbers - 10185049, 10134367, 24502502, 24502500, 12370834, 14044808, 12370833, 10051106, 10237292. World Products (Merlin) part numbers: 080100, 080110, 081100, 081110, 081102, 081112 and 081120. The use of any other block requires the approval of APBA.
(e) Approval - The use of any other block requires the approval of APBA.

I think the key phrase is right here: "Approval - The use of any other block requires the approval of APBA".
I can only tell you what little my friend has told me. I assuming that they are using the speicified equipment per the rules, it just the little "Tweaks" that they do when they assemble/prep it, which makes them "Their" design?
MD

Jon,
No problem, you brought up a good point, and it made me think about it also.
