I boat with someone that had good luck with only going 1" higher than stock on a similar age Fountain. Thought I'd try 2" and slips too much with stock props, I think?
May wanna try a set of 5 blade maximus to fix the slip problem.

I thought about it but I have not read any threads here on OSO with boaters having good luck maintaining top speeds with those props. I hate to spend the money on them and not have any luck. If I had all the money back I've ever spent on this hobby from upgrades, I think I could purchase a new boat with cash.

Well, maybe I should fork out some cash for props then. Any other props than Herings.

if you were comparing apples to apples, than maybe you wouldn't benefit with top speed on 5 blades. But, being that you raised the X, the additional blade may help you out. Most of the newer boats with high X's have the maximus props. You will probably pick up midrange but with the high X and more blades you may actually do pretty well on top.

I wouldn't go buy any props just yet, see if someone can let you try them first.

Where are you? I've got a pair of fresh 1" XR lowers.

I've not tried them yet but Elim says with my present x it would be the sweet spot for perf and still getting on plane without a tab (30 daytona). But i did buy some maximus and they arer so much better at planing thn my bravo1's.

I bet with the my 5 blades the 2" would work, but I would not pull the trigger without trying- if you were close enough we could kill a sat messing with drives and props- I've got access to more 5 blades

If I were you.... I would not give up til you try some 5 blades, I like the maximus casue they have the ventilation holes you can mess with.

i also have a bud with some 1" spacers lying around- very low use- In the spring he's going to try my 5 blades on his Tiger

Can you say something to him about the spacers - if he's interested in selling?

Ah, there you go. You are a good little elf there Robert. Now if you could get a trailer title to show up in my stocking you would be my favorite elf for life.

How does it run. I had a 96 - 35' before my current 01 - 42'. The single step 35' lightning was a great boat. It had custom power, nothing exotic, but hadled great even at 90mph. My cousin had an 01 -35' single step with 500 efis and was a solid 87 mph.
