Make sure the vent line comes out of the top (highest point) of the tank, not the side. Air is supposed to be in that line, not fuel. If theres not already a loop in the line, (to keep water from coming in through the vent) might not hurt to replace it and put one in. It'll give it a little more room to expand before coming out.

i will check that Brad thanks i do not think the spill bottle will do anything since they are flush vents but worth looking into just makes me sick seeing the fuel eat through the paint

Awlcraft 2000 spill all the gas you want,won't peal the paint.
Sounds like your paint guy using automotive paint.
