Plane takes off from ICW and Crashes today on video!
Pilot suffers minor injuries in ultra light plane crash
Chrystian Tejedor South Florida Sun-Sentinel Posted December 15 2006, 3:27 PM EST The pilot of an ultra light pontoon plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Beach Gardens Friday afternoon, authorities said. Richard Frank Sheldon, 52, of Jupiter, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said. Initial reports were of a plane that crashed into a building, but Palm Beach Gardens Fire-Rescue said Sheldon took off from just south of the PGA Boulevard Bridge about 2 p.m. and was briefly airborne before crashing into some bushes behind a home in the 11000 block of Ellison Wilson Road. Sheldon crashed about 15 to 20 feet from a home and might have hit a guide wire for power lines before crashing, Palm Beach Gardens Fire-resuce Deputy Chief Chris Brown said.
