Default How Do You Blueprint A Hull ???

The question is HOW, not what blueprinting does to a hull.

I know it is about making it straight, no hook, so on and so on... But how do you do this ? do you fill the holes or hooks with more fiberglass ? more gelcoat ? This make the boat heavier in some point if that is the way to do it...

Do you flip the boat upside down? How do you straighten the hull when you approach the front end of the boat ???

I'm sure many of you have answers, FASTFUN2 would probably be among those...

Thanks! And Merry Christmas to you all!!!

You can glass it or use a fairing compound while sitting on bunks, dont need to turn it over. Then gelcoat over it.

I dont know what blue printing is considered unless you have an actual print from the manufacture that you wold use to get the bottom to there specs. Or coping the bottom of a proven hull.

As far as getting the hook out I did two of my hulls grinded them down to bare glass on the running surface 8ft from the transom forward, from the keel to the chine glassed them back up and used a long airfile to sand them strait knife edged the strakes sealed it then painted the whole bottom in awl grip. I jacked the boat up and laid it on it's side. Did one side at a time. It is very labor intensive.

Close... Carroll Shelby used to say " aerodynamics is a poor excuse for not enough HP".... Then the cobra team went to LeMans and they couldn't top 150 on the straights until they came back the next year with the Coupe that was streamlined.... I've met Carroll Shelby a couple of times ... he is quite a character. Phil Hill had lots of rude Carroll Shelby stories he used to tell me...

For what I can tell( never had base line conditions)3 to 6 M.P.H. I am going to do the boat on my avatar in Jan it runs 78 in like conditions. The bad thing the boat is getting a bigger engine I am going for a 10 to 12 MPH gain. I will try to start a thread from start to finish.

what about if Pat from Active Thunder would chime in here? I saw some pictures here when he did the new 33. but they were only pictures of the boat upside down. not the work...
