Well he's in luck if he's an OSO member.....in the next week or so i'll be changing the impeller on my Alpha drive i just got for my project so i'll make a "How to" like i did for the sea-water pump impeller change and he can do it himself! :D

Before I owned my Bullet, I always towed to the ramp. I can't tell you how many times a year I would see someone "warming up their engine" before they put it in the water!

Does it really hurt to run them say maybe 5 seconds or so?

He seemed like he was going to run it awhile.

Re: Must Be A New Boater

On an Alpha drive, is the water pump/impeller spinning when the when the engine is not in gear? I am not familiar with the Alpha drive, and feasibly, if not, the engine could overheat when idling out of gear for long periods if not.

Ya'll just don't get it! He knew what he was doing. With a drive shower on a small block Alpha drive you don't need water. Just make sure you keep it in gear to rotate the prop, to force in the cool air. Doesn't that act like an old VW and air cool the engine ? :eureka:

That goes to show you that if you have credit, and a trailor hitch, anyone can buy a boat. I bet he cranked it up for everyone that came over to see his new ride before he put it in the water for the first time.

Maybe he didn't have a belt on the impeller pump:evilb:
