New Hampshire Law Change Goes Into Effect January 1, 2007

* Beginning January 1, 2007, New Hampshire law will require that everyone pass a proctored, in-person exam in order to apply for the required New Hampshire Safe Boater Education Certificate issued by the Department of Safety.
* Persons who have obtained a Safe Boater Education Certificate prior to January 1, 2007, will not be required to re-take a course or an examination.Once you have obtained your New Hampshire Safe Boater Education Certificate from the Department of Safety, you have fulfilled the requirements of the law. IT IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME REQUIREMENT.

Letter D tell's me Out of State need's a Cert. also.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE?

Boating Safety Certificates shall be issued to:

a. You must be 16 years of age to receive a boating safety certificate from the State of New Hampshire. You can take the course at 15 years of age but you will not receive the boating safety certificate until you turn 16 years of age.

b. Persons who pass a Department of Safety boater education course with a grade of 70% or higher.

c. Persons who pass a safe boater equivalency exam with a grade of 80% or higher. This certificate will only be acceptable on New Hampshire public waters and not be recognized by other states. Call 888-254-2125 to sign up.

d. Visitors who pass a "temporary" safe boater examination. Visitors will be allowed to obtain a temporary boater education certificate, which will be valid for 14 days. This option is available only once and will allow the operator to operate only in the State of New Hampshire.
