Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
What do you think?
Perhaps a section designed specifically for youngsters coming into the sport via friends, family, and/or other avenues to ask a lot of questions and polls. This would be an area where anyone who falls into this dynamic would not be afraid to ask or seek info on any topic as it pertains to the powerboating arena. The greatest advantage to such is this would become a central repository for this information, that would evolve as the sport does. |
Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
I would say a huge YES to that. It's hilarious when an unsuspecting person on here is taking advice from teenagers (...and pre-teens)!!
 :drink: :drink: |
Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
Ummm, I dunno - that's like taking the "rush" out of a fraternity... But I suppose it would be ok, "for the love of the sport" of course :D

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
Perhaps a designator above or below the Avatar depicting Jr. Member Status?

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
I don't think there should be. I think it's funny when someone on here cracks on the youth. I think it's great that there are some young ens that are interested enough to hop on this site to become more envolved. I'm pretty new to this sport and hope to get more envovled but I don't want to be classified as a Jr. I'm pretty sure ther are other that would aggree.

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
No, no junior section.
I've been boating for many years and would not like to be placed in a "Junior Member" section just because I'm new to the forum. OSO has taught me a lot things several of which I learned by lurking before I joined. I know that many of the newbies ask some strange questions, but hey, we all asked similar questions when we started too. And like some famous person once said "There's no such thing a a stupid question. Only dumb mistakes.". |
Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
The poll has nothing to do with boating experience. The direction of the Jr. Section is for YOUNGSTERS.
I worded my first post a little better, and OldSchool's post hits the nail on the head on one aspect as well. I used to visit a lot of forums that were quite informative on different subjects. Over the past two years, most of them have become overrun with kids posting worthless banter, and its driven away the quality of the information and entertainment of the site. Now I really only spend time here and on the Diesel Stop. I'd hate to see either go that direction, hence the reason for the poll. I don't know what Junior means to many of you, but to mean it means younger than adult. I didn't ask if we should have a section for inexperienced boaters. |

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
I should have expected as much. If we start a Youngster's Section, then we need one for people like AudioFN and PhantomChaos too. :evilb:

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
Good idea Brian, but I don't think it is neccesary around here.
|
Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
If the young people can't use English and behave in a mature manner the other members will run short of tolerance and give the big heave ho. Punks won't last long, the rest are welcome.

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
I think that would be a good idea. My son comes in here a few times but I dont want to buy him a membership since hes hardly ever in here but, I dont want peeps on here confusing me with a 16 year old. It would also be nice so that they could talk to people their own age instead of old farts like docmanrich37who try to act young:evilb: :evilb: :drink:
Just kiddin you doc, dont press the trianngle:drink:  |
Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?

Re: Should OSO have a Jr. Members Section?
The only thing that I would like to see is a membership that does NOT allow access to the adult area. I used to buy some of the kids memberships but then thought that it was probably not a good idea because then they had access to that area.
