Default 1999 Baja 342? Good Deal??

I am looking at a 1999 Baja 342, it priced below 80,000. Is basically loaded(gen, sink, stove, other than no a/c) . 250 hrs. What is a good asking price on something like this? How hard do you think it would be to sell it in another year or so, if I decide I don't want to continue boating? Thanks for your help and input.

Have been going back and forth on a buying decision.

There was a salt water 342 for sale without a trailer for 65,000 last year for a LONG time,I think I saw it in the mid 50's and it still wasn't sold. The market is soft so I would find the best deal you can,Smitty

For that money I will sell you a 1995 .38 Special with new crate Mercury 502's, 5KW gen... 330 hours on the hull and a trailer...

Just something to think about... There are alot of .38's for that money out there... Although I like the 342 and the one you are looking at is very nice...

Here's my 2 cents. Don't buy a boat with the intention of selling in 1 to 2 years. You will lose big money. Buy with the intention of finding a good deal and a boat that you really like and plan on using for at least 4 years. Then when you sell, the money you lose can be counted on as the price of having fun on a boat. With that said, I think the boat you are looking at looks very clean. But, I think it is underpowered and will be hard to sell later. Now, if you could get it for 50-60K that would be a great deal and you will not lose much if you were to sell in a year or 2. But you will have to be prepared to hold on to it for a while, because the boating market is pretty slow right now for the "middle class" boat buying public. Good luck!

for referance, i sold a 1999 36 outlaw with 500 hp's, a/c, gps plotter, ext. stearing, vhf, few more hours, just as clean. for less. i think my 36 was alot more boat. it did not have a gen. but what are you going to run the gen for? pop popcorn while under way? i would think you could get that boat for 10-15 less, if that is what you want.

I was originally looking at the 38 specials, but in order for my loan to go through at the rate I was quoted it needs to be a 1999 or newer.

It goes to say "You Pay to Play..."

I understand that part of it, but what is reasonable offer on this boat then?

58-70??? it would be hard to go over 65, for me but with the way it is equiped i think it would be hard to sell, not really equiped as a performance boat or a cruiser.

Me and a friend are both in the market for a 342 or a 36 outlaw...

Send me some pics and details if you have boats available.

[email protected].

Keep the information coming.

Thanks
