What boat would suit my location?

Re: What boat would suit my location?
Thanks for all the suggestions, I knew i came to the right place! Looking for a boat that would hold about 6 people. I like the baja's but they are a dime a dozen around here and I wouldn't mind having something different. i like the Fountains, Apache's, and Cigaretes but hardly know anything about them. Time to start researching! So you think something around 28' will be able to jump waves with ease?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

You really are not looking for a boat that will "jump" waves. In the Bay we get a mix of snotty water that is rarely like offshore conditions with large rolling waves. You need a boat that is capable of parting most of the smaller wakes and waves and expect to jump very rarely. That said, Bay boaters also learn there are times when you need to run "on top" of the waves. The typical period of natural waves runs from 8 to 13 feet. Ideally you want a boat that can span 3 wave tops for the best ride quality. This translates to a 30-40 foot boat depending on the day. On most days I am very happy with my 31 Formula, with the right speed the boat will set up and run on top quite comfortably and the wife doesn't even complain. There are some days when a 38-40 foot boat is the only thing that is gonna run comfortably up on top which is why many people end up with that size boat on the Bay. I would give up some speed for size if you can, since most of your time will be spent at cruise as opposed to top end anyhow.

We boat that same route. For that budget an older 33' Fountain or 35' Fountian would be a great boat, and get you the speed you desire.

I run at the lower end of the DE bay often. Whatever you get make sure it has tabs/K planes, they are working properly, and you get to know how to use them. Makes a huge difference in ride comfort.
