Black interior?

I noticed quite a few boats with some black accents in their interior. Thinking of doing something similar to how this Cig was done. Does that Carbon style vinyl NOT get hot???

I know the black in my interior will melt the skin right off of your foot on a 100 degree day. I alway keep towels in the boat to cover the black places.

Re: Black interior?
I love the looks of black in the interior but it has to be a scorcher. Jo has been running black on solid black interior in his last few Pantera race boats & it looks awsome ! But it has to be brutal. To be perfectly honest I am a little worried about the red in my Saber. I will have the towels on hand. The interior in my fathers Formula is white ,2 colors of gray & blue and when you crawl accross the sun pad you can feal a major differance when you get on the dark gray & the blue.

I was apprehensive about buying this interior for my Donzi Minx, but it was brand new, and too good of a price to let it go. I was afraid the blue would burn my ass, but it's really not any worse than any other color. Maybe it's just in my mind, but it seems if I keep the vinyl shiny, it doesn't get as hot. My Formula had a lot of black accent in it beore I changed the sunpad and rear seat. Even the light gray on the old sunpad would get pretty damn hot. The dark blue hasn't been bad at all on the Minx.

Re: Black interior?
I think there was a thread a while back about the carbon fiber style vinyl not holding up very well.
I prefer as much white as possible on the vinyl. Colors just get way too hot. |
Re: Black interior?
my last boat after a few summers the black got brittle and came apart. the other colors were still soft and flexable. I was told by the vinyl guy that did the interior over that it is normal because of black absorbing so much heat.

I prefer as much white as possible on the vinyl. Colors just get way too hot. The first generation carbon fiber material wore quickly. The new stuff is great, per Nortech, and Active Thunder. I ordered blue, silver and graphite on my new boat. The purple on my 04 4300 was not bad at all, and just came back from a run to the Keys on a few A.T.s with carbon fiber and no problems, but it was not 90 degrees. Jeff |
