that is what I figured. Must have been a sponge as that is the only way it will do that. It takes a long time for water to make Balso do that!!!

The boat was a '88 model. I've been told that there were a few years where they had some problems. Apparently several have failed in the same area.
I'm not really sure as to what caused the failure. Could it have been the cruiser wake that I hit earlier? I didn't have a yard stick along to see how much air I got, but the hang time was incredible! What I do know is that 5 miles earlier I had checked the oil and the bilge was dry. Could I have hit something? Possibly, although I didn't feel anything, there was a good chop out and I've been told that at speed you won't necessarily feel a strike.
