all are great boats some all have their own quirks I guess. I have a velocity and have been very happy it with no problems.
Pro's:No step's on velocitys hull which makes it a little different but safer according to Steve Stepp, still very fast and fuel effecient.
Also Velocity's have very deep cockpitts, which I have noticed helps non-boaters feel safer.
Company is easy to dell with and friendly.
Con's:Fit and finish is not the best in places compared to the formula.
Have had a few problems with the paint.
Deep cockpit Sucks though if you are sitting the back you cant see but how often will that happen .
One disadvantage of my velocity they land hard off waves.
I love the look of formula's looked at a couple in florida very nice. Heck test drive one of each and see which one you like , good luck in your search

You picked some very different boats.
Form 271 Mid range speed
Strong hull (Bulletproof)
Good performer
Baja 272 Low to mid range speed
Good hull (True V)
More of a family boat
Velocity 280
I dont Know so I wont fake I do!
Fountain 27
With the right power the best way to describe this boat is "Fun". It has some Get up and Go. But I would not take it out on big days. Not a whole lot of room on the boat. It does look great in the water and can do some impresseve turns at speed. Strong Hull ad a good performer.
Are you looking to buy new or used?

IDRPSTF,
Very different indeed !!I manage a glass repair shop and have worked on all these listed boats. Formula would be my top pick for best boat for what I would use it for(still have a few young teenagers hangin' around)but there is a hell of a price gap between Formula and Baja(I know Baja is mass produced and lowers the cost).Like the styling of Velocity(Hard to get warranty work approved though) and of course Founatins are a good go fast boat but limited space for kids in this size boat.Looking for a 2000 or 2001 "leftover" new boat. Can't tell wife boat is more than the damn house!!
Thanks,
Steve

Boating Magzine had a Write up comparing all these boats. I believe it was about 6-7 months ago. They chose the Formula to be the best "all around" boat based on styling, comfort, and construction(and the price reflects it!!). And all having stock power (502) the Velocity was the fastest. I've personally been on all of these boats, and i feel the Velocity is the best. It has the most cabin room for it's size, it's well constucted, and fast.
I would definetly try to find the issue of Boating Magazine.
Good luck
