"Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win your still a retard."

When I see statements like this it makes me realize that even in todays society there is a great deal of misunderstandings, hate, and intolerance of people who are different. If you ever want to see what a person with Downs Syndrome is really like, go spend some time volunteering at your local Downs Syndrome support organizations. They could always use another adult to help provide fun activities to special kids. I promise you will be amazed at what these kids are capable of and the joy they bring to the lives they touch.

3 years ago I would have not thought twice about the statement and moved on. However, a very special child was born into our lives and she happened to have Downs syndrome. I have since come to understand that these are the most loving, forgiving, affectionate, and happy people you could ever meet. Our hopes for our daughter are no different that any other parent. We want see her grow up to be a productive, contributing member of society. To be polite, kind and thoughtful when dealing with others. To be compassionate and caring of fellow human beings. To enjoy life and marvel at all of lifes wonders.

These are things we all could spend more time trying to achieve.

Okay, I found it...
This one's for IDRPSTF and Wally.
This was posted by Allan4 about Shorgasm and has to be my favorite and funniest thing I read on OSO...

"He's back, but I heard he was spotted leaving a Transvestite Rights convention wearing a small pink Menudo t-shirt, size 22 blue coaching shorts, "Frank Pocherello" mirrored sunglasses, ballet shoes, carrying purple pom poms, a life sized poster of Richard Simmons ( with a hole cut out of the a$$) and proudly prancing the sidewalk in celebration of his sexual identity. That's just what I heard....... "
