Not sure how long the run to Ft Meyers would be but you have 2 choices, the gulf as fast as you want or the icw if it gets sloppy out.

I would look anwhere from Tierra Verde to around Reddington or Clearwater area. The only really long idle zone is an area called the narrows that starts a little north of Reddington and runs nearly all the way to Indian Rocks.

You do not want to commute from Ft Myers, trust me. I'd check in the Tierra Verde area in south Pinellas County. The best of boating, and plenty of different areas and types of water to run in. If I had the bucks, and didn't have to work, that's where I'd be. I just can't stand the traffic in Pinellas anymore. I lived there 33 years.

Why did you leave, just traffic? Is Tierra Verde south of Seminole? It won't show up on Google Earth. How is the overall economy there? Is it based on the growth of population?

How Far away did you move? Sorry for all the personal questions, That area has always interested me since a visit about 7 years ago. Of course aluminum trailers would be a must, right?

How is fuel availabity on the water there? Can you get 93 octane readily?

Oneils by the I-275 bridge real close to Tierre Verde has 93.

In the 1.0-1.5M range, I would definately shoot for the Tierre Verde area.

Yes, it was the traffic. That and the fact that a lot of my work was in Orlando, so I had to got through Pinellas, through Tampa, down I-4 through Lakeland to Orlando. Not to mention that I-4 has been under constant construction for about ten years now. I moved to Deland, which is 20 miles west of Daytona, I can be in Orlando in 35 minutes.

No doubt in my mind though that the Tampa Bay area is THE best for boating in the state, the only thing close might be Biscayne Bay.

Actually, the commute from Tierra Verde to Tampa Airport wouldn't be bad at all. Jump on 275 from the Bayway, then you have interstate nearly all the way to the airport. It's nice since they made the bridge six lanes in each direction several years ago. It used to the called the Howard Frankenstein Bridge, now it's the Howard Franklin Speedway.

cuda many thanks for your info ,you also think tierre verde is best area for boating etc ,but the down side is the traffic,is it real bad all year or just certain times, what a bout on the water is that getting busy also ?i will be contacting mike, do you do poker runs etc?not commuting from fort myers ,got friends there , like the thought of going there in the boat,work will be in clearwater, whats the area like for waterskiing for my kids?
