Just wondering how many other texans we have around, I see all of the posts about Tampa OSO get togethers and Boston and the likes and wonder if we could do the same????

Great this might just work out :p Not sure about Dallas for me, kinda hard to get away. Getting ready for a launch and all so I am sorta stuck bouncing between here and Flooorida. But don't let that stop you from trying to get together in Dallas :D

Hey there-me and NASDBOY (hubby) are here in Houston. We usually go to Conroe & make a few runs to Lake Travis (Austin) if we can get away. Only been to Clear Lake a few times. Should be a poker run in Lake Travis (?) almost every year there.

I'm interested in doing the Bimini run too, if anyones interested from Texas. Trailer it to FLorida then paradise here we come! OR take it all the way.

Get together would be cool-let us know. :cool:

Do you work @ JSC? When in Fl. are you working @ KSC? I used to work @ KSC, Never worked @ JSC. I now work for Lockheed in Orlando on a F/A-18 simulator project, and looking @ you OSO screen name, I assume you used to fly F/A-18? I'm just curious? We live on Merritt Island, so if come to KSC on business, drop us a note.

BTW, PK is one COOOL lake, been there many a time, I never had the opportunity to do any boating in S. Texas, sounds like a lot of good boating spots there.

Hi Dean, well I work for a contractor to NASA and I live in Texas and work both at KSC and at JSC. I did fly F/A 18's up until about 2 years ago and now just get to fly the small stuff :( But what the heck huh? I am at the Cape right now waiting for our plane to get ready, been here for about 4 hours now :eek: ain't it like the government to have us sit here and bill em 450 bucks and hour while we wait on their plane? But should be getting out of here soon.

We need to hook up the next time your @ KSC! :D We live directly off SR3 on Merritt Island, in Diana Shores. Do you ever spend the night in Fl? If yes, than maybe we can hook up. The ADULT Beverages are on me, that is if you stay in Fl., long enough for crew rest!

Dean yes we do stay some times, most days we buz in early in the morning (too damn early) and out that afternoon :) I hop a ride with one of the astronuts :) most of the time in the back seat of a F-16 man what a plane :D That's what we are in today, but it is having problems right now. They tell us we can leave in about an hour or so wich means we can be in Texas by 6 or 6:30 Texas time. Thanks for the offer of the beverages, we do partake when we get a chance ;)

I just finished the Flt. Sim. for AC-130U Gunship, that too is an impressive platform, definitly a SLOW Mover for you though!! :D

Dean I started in A's and then went to C's and then finally in to a E :D But civilian dollars lead me out of the Navy and onto bigger and better things....I hope?? :D I will be back in FL next week on Wed or Thur not sure yet. We are working towards the next mission in 34 days or so. This will be my last mission as I am moving up the ladder so to speak :) Gotta run they tell us our birds wings have been fixed!! Off we go..............

Dang...all this talk about Texas is making me homesick. We used to live in Houston from 1994-1997. Best years ever!!! I hate the cold white North, and I grew up here. Have friends who boat with T.O.P.P.S down on Lake Conroe. They live there on the lake. Look them up sometime...George and Fay McMurry. They run a 26? foot Velocity named ALL Talk.

BajaRunner, we haven't "participated" in any runs as of yet. Just got the boat in Nov (xmas/bday gift)for hubby.

For the past 3 years we were cruisin' the lakes (Travis & Conroe) with our 19'Larson & buddies w/ski roundabouts & cruisers. We were dreaming then about a BAJA. Now we got one.....never knew y all the gatherings. ...till we were informed Poker Runs!!

We hope to participate in a few this year. I do know that MarineMax hosts a few in Conroe/Clear Lake. And that there's 1 or 2 in Lake Travis (hosted by ?). Hope to see all the texans unite at a lake sometime for some fun in the sun! :cool:

Wish I was back at travis. used to live in lago vista, great if your retired and like to boat and golf, sucks if you have to work in town. 29 scarab, how's the view at sewell park these days? my wife and I went to swtsu before ut, 1982.

The views still good. Still greenish/clear water. They've got some new little tube shoots down the river-they're ok. But the kids like em-the guys, too (seeing all the bikini bottoms ride/topps off) :rolleyes:
Was at Canyon Lake, late Sept-still pretty clean. I still think Travis' water visibility is the clearest, but difficult finding a launch site that wasn't full capacity. We had to drive around for about an hour till we found one that we could launch from -ridiculous! I'll see if I can find the pix from Labor Day (travis).
