Yes, I had planned on using a scissor trust to increase ceiling height. This garage will be an addition and newly constructed. Hardcover can be up to 33% of lot, so the city will allow a footprint of 40' x 18' without a variance.

I agree a 10' door would be less risky and accomodate more boat choices. If I want the new garage attached to the existing car garage, a 10' door gets tricky. Talking with the builder again next week.
