Mercury Marine?

I was visiting some friends in St. Cloud to attend a car auction this past weekend. Several times i've been down there, going West on 192 and pass a big building with a Mercury Marine sign in front. I was wondering what Mercury does there? Anyone know? Just this past weekend, it looked like there was a real estate sign in front of it that I had not noticed before.

This might be it: http://www.mercurymarine.com/st._cloud_fl Anyone know the story? I know the old Lake X was right around St. Cloud.

Just curious.

Used to be the dry pits/ registration when we raced there. They made some small parts?. Great memories rolling through inspections there!

Unfortunately, it's nothing too exciting, the St. Cloud plant mostly does electronics. :D :D I know a few people that work there. If you were to continue East past the St. Cloud plant about 10 miles and hung a left on Old Melbourne highway you would run into the old "Lake X" site.

(Yes, the link you have above is the same place.)

I spent two weeks at the lake in the 90's

Is there a Howard Johnson's still there with all the Offshore pictures on the wall in the bar?

Actually, the St. Cloud facility was Kieikhaefer Mercurys one & only parts distribution warehouse for Mercruiser & Mercury Outboard Dealers for the entire southeast region, since it was first built in the 50's. They stopped using it as dealer & export parts support, if memory serves, in the late 80's when Mercury's much larger Georgia Distribution Center took over. Since then, as with all of Mercurys real-estate, they try to retain these properties & use them for others purposes. Sorry to hear its now on the market.
