OL builds an excellent product but only produces 24 boats a year. They hired Marilyn DeMartini to promote the brand which seems contradictory for a low production company. Why promote more if you are not going to sell more than 24?

This boat was a 46 Limited and with nice power why would it have to be sold by a non-OL dealer before completion? What does MOTIVATED mean in regards to price? Keep in mind the 46 was only going to be sold to existing clients, like the Cats are now. This elitest thinking has cost them future sales for sure.

Their boats are nice but since they are so unique I think it has hurt resale. The original owner's taste may not be shared by the masses. Who could pay 500K for a 3-4 year old boat with tired power, orange/purple/yellow graphics done in a scallop/dagger/flame design? I think this is why you see the same boats for sale for crazy money for long periods of time. Hideaway has a new 06 42 Legacy (red/gold/creme scallop/flame paint) with 850's that has been for sale for 2 YEARS! This boat has attended more poker runs than I have in the last two years and I did 12!

The TAOD paint schemes should help sales as long as the artist is designing the schemes. They are operating in a dwindling market so they need to up production, make their product a little less elite and look at where other brands have excelled so they can change their business model to stay competitive during slow times in the industry.

I read somewhere once that construction had to start after July 1 and completion after September 1 to be a next year model. That was the case with my old Fountain. I got it in mid September of 04 but it was a 05 model. I could be wrong.

I looked real hard to find guidance when I had my boat built and I was not able to find any written rules for a model year for boats.

I think the deal with being a 2008 is that you can't go to a dealer right now and order a 2007 46 Limited, they're all sold.

That would make sense but it says March 07 delivery. If thats the case they must have started building it in late 06.

I still haven't finished my boat and they say it's already 1 year old. So I
guess I've already taken the 70G in depreciation?!
