Re: motor swap outs
Offshore mounts are more adjustable so it may take a new bracket set, but should not be a big deal.

Re: motor swap outs
Shouldn't any Merc high perf. motor slap right in with minimum effort? 496, 500 (efi/carbed), 525efi, 525SC, 502, etc. etc. etc. Not really that big of deal no?
Wouldn't the cheapest route be to buy some new blocks and throw 'em back together? |
Re: motor swap outs
I have 2 454 long blocks for sale if you are interested one has 25 hrs and the other has about 250 but the blocks and heads are good. They were running when I took them out to repower a customers boat. And by the way you can put any big block chevy in your boat will only a little extra effort gen 4 5 or 6 it dosent matter. If you have any questions call me @ 714 369 7410 and good luck.

I have found that as you shift from generation to generation what you run into is accessories not bolting on and having to hunt for brackets and stuff. The easiest thing is to go with the same long block generation you have so it all bolts back up. Getting new blocks is an option but by the time you pay a machine shop to assemble it with all new rings, bearings, and miscellaneous stuff you can by a reman from a large scale builder and be back on the water in days instead of weeks or months-assuming you are just going back to stock power. |
Re: motor swap outs
Anyone know of a quality shop out in Havasu to help grimmy out? I think he needs a second opinion from a shop that can give him a qualified estimate for insurance.
