NYC Boat Show How was it?
For anyone that has been there so far this weekend how is the show. What are the highlights of the show in regards to performance boating
thanks |
I was there yesterday and I thought it was pretty lame for performance boaters. It seemed to be a very small show. There were only 5 or 6 performance companies there. Outerlimits,Fountain, Formula, Donzi, and a few others. I did have the pleasure of meeting Boat Girl, who was a sweetheart and I really enjoyed her company. Formula and Fountain had a nice display and selection of boats, Outerlimits had a 37' and 42', Wellcraft was there, but I didn't see a Scarab anywhere, Donzi had a few boats. The highlight of the show would probably be the young blonde lady that represents Chris Craft boats, Wow! Don't miss seeing her. The new Chris Craft boats were designed to look like the wooden boats from the past(and did), and they really did a nice job. It was fun to be back in NY again. I was hoping to meet other OSO people, but I didn't see a post on people getting together. I thought I would see at a couple of cats there, but not one! In last years LA show, every manufacturer had at least one cat model. I was hoping to see Hustler, Cigarette, Superboat and Powerplay there, but no such luck. I hope this can enlighten you on the show.

Many thanks Just what I thought. I guess I will have to see everything in Miami in February.

Did mercruiser have a good repower motor section and do they generally have better boat show prices there?
I'm looking to repower with a 502MAG/496HO and I'm wondering if I should go to the NY boat show or should I just order one from www.repropower.com? Jamal |
S4Hadi,
Check your e-mail. Toolman :D |
i'm going later on this week. i just liek checking out all the boats not just the performance boats.
|
The show sucked !!! Cigarette was not there, and from a performance boating standpoint save your money.
|

I am pretty sure Ultra is returning this year to. But were there is boats I will be there, A lame day at the boat show is better then being home!

I agree, it was pretty lame. The outerlimits that they had there were sweet looking boats, wanted to go check out the interior of the boat but was rejected. It must be they way I looked. (you can not afford this boat). WTF  I even got an attitude from the rep that was there when I wanted to ask some questions about the boat. I got two words for them "bite me" Fountian had a nice array of boats, even Wyatt was manning the booth on Sat.

I have to agree, there were very few HP boats there...No Cigarette, no Skater, no Active Thunder, no Kryptonite, no Bat Boats but there were several interesting things to see...Silverton had a nice showing, and so did Formula, they put out a nice product...Sunseeker, Jen thanks for chatting, you look good girl. Some neat gadgets and a really nice airbrush guy from Queens, forgot the name, but he's like the only one there, hes over by Fountain you have to check out the ice cream boat...Got a good deal on a subscription to powerboat mag, and a free tshirt to boot...Semper Fi it was nice to meet you too...The girls and I are going back on Saturday...

ThunderDan:
I went through all of our brokerage listings at the show today. We took a 1999 40-foot Formula on trade with almost zero hours on the boat, and it is in mint condition. They want to turn this boat over, and I know for a fact that they will go as low as 160 (maybe lower) to make a quick deal. I believe it is listed at 200. You need to speak with Kevin McCauley. Good luck in your search, and I hope this helps. [ 01-07-2002: Message edited by: SunseekerNY ] |
Boatgirl,
You were right about there not being many high performance manufacturers. Outerlimits by far had the nicest boats there. There was actually a 27 Kryptonite there at the show. It had a pair of Mercury outboards on it. It was brought there by Ocean Outboard. It was right by the Baja display. First time Cigarette hasnt been there in many years. All in all with the way the economy is and things going on it wasn't that bad of a show. |
Was Sonic there?
Brian |
Sonic was not there, no cigarette, fountain had a few UGLY boats from Trenton Marine... Man o man the new Fountains are ugly... they look like retro performance boats with wrap around clear platic winsdshields... I throught they were Fugly!
I'll do Baltimore w/e after next and A/C Boat show in Feb - A/C will definately be better....You've got all the Joisey guys that are big around the middle...gold chains and can't seem to wear anything but big warm-up suits in attendance... |
The boat show was beat. Outerlimits people were snobs.
|
Dennis, thanks, I musta missed it, didnt really stop by baja, so that is probably why...But, I am going back on Saturday so I will check it out...
