I cried a little...

I've shed two tears over the past year. One was the day when I was riding in a coast guard boat after my boat had sunk. The second one was today when I handed the keys over to the new owner.

The boat looked so good on the trailer, that I kept on thinking that maybe I could repair it and keep on using it. A couple of times I actually thought of turning around and keeping it. On one hand I regret having effectivly given the boat away, on the other hand, I'm glad to have a down payment for a new boat. Well I guess it's a little too late to second guess things soooo...I guess that it's time to cut the cord.

boot 01-06-2002 09:46 PM

So what do you have lined up next ? :D

Waterfoul 01-06-2002 09:47 PM

Cord, you are better off without it. Trust me. Now, if I could just get those pictures developed!!! LOL!!!

So, whatcha thinking of gettin next????? You and Donzimitch should go with everyone to the Chicago Boat Show and pick something out!!

traviss 01-06-2002 09:48 PM

been there cord, sold the century around easter. they always look the best when they are leaving behind the new owners truck.. I'll miss that one :( :(

Cord 01-06-2002 09:56 PM

I've narrowed the choices down to either a 26' Firehawk, or a 25' Warlock. The Firehawk is a new unrigged hull and the Warlock is a complete turn key package. Either one will be running close to a bill.

We currently prerfer the Firehawk, but the getcha is that it is more than had I wanted to spend. You guys may want to get a pool started on which one we end up with. It seems like every time I talk to somebody, they insist that I should do it differently. We've chainged our minds so many times that I'm starting to loose track of things.

Cord 01-07-2002 08:58 AM

Cord,
Hopefully you can settle with the insurance co. soon for a "reasonable" agreed upon amount, THEN, you off to the worlds of Cats for you!! Something to think about is, if and when you Dee decide to get rid of your next boat, (Firehawk, or Warlock) the Warlock will be name more widely recognized and therefore a little more easy to move when/if you guys do decide to sell it.
Just food for thought, good luck in your choice.
MD

bluellama 01-07-2002 02:00 PM

Hi Cord, I know you said you were looking at a 25', but here is a link to 31', and with the strength of your dollar, you are only paying 60% of the price. It's a 1986 with twin 600hp 525's in it.

31 Warlock

Good luck

Blue-llama

NW_Jim 01-07-2002 07:16 PM

Looks like a 1996 me. You think a 1996 31 Warlock is worth $248,000.00? That would be the price if the $148,000.00 asking price is only 60% of the value. Asking price seems a little high to me. Now if you could get it for 60% of the asking price.... ;)

MACDAD260 01-07-2002 08:51 PM

So, you finally sold it, huh? Glad I have pictures. I'll never forget THAT day!
Hope you find something else so you can come over and cruise with us again. Just don't get something Too fast or you'll be cruising alone. :D

Cord 01-07-2002 09:39 PM

Uh, that thing is like a hundred grand more than what I'm spending! That boat is more than what my house cost! Oh, yea it's Canadian. Even then 60k (which appears to be a good price) is way too much.

Hey Mac, it's been a while! How are you doing? Do you have pics from that day? I don't have a single one, and sure would like to have a copy if you can spare 'em. Maybe you could scan them and e-mail me a copy.

BAD HTM SR 24 01-07-2002 10:21 PM

Hey Cord,Blue lightning Marine has a 26 ft Firehawk with a 1100 hp motor and a #3 drive in it.It runs around 110-115 i think.I know they are wanting to get rid of it pretty bad, dont know how much they want for it.They would probably make you a good deal on it.I think it is a 1996.I seen the boat and it is not in bad shape at all,i know the old owner and he took great care of it.It might be worth looking into.It is on a trailer. Here is the number for Blue Lightning Marine
203-622-6343 ask for Bobby.

Yahoo currency converter,10:40 PM
$149,000 Canadian Dollars=$93,142.47 US Dollars
Looked like a good deal if the motors are fresh until I went to NADA.com, they said $56,000.
I think they are a little low?
Caleb

bluellama 01-08-2002 08:57 AM

NW-JIm, you're right, it is a 1996, I just wish we could convert our dollar the way you did it. :D
Jim, I just re-read my first post and yours, I sort of see the confusion now. I didn't mean that $148K was 60% of the asking price, I meant that our dollar is only worth 60% of your dollar, therefore you only pay 60%. Sorry for the confusion.
BL
It's easy to see how things can get out of hand on a written forum.

Barb and I bought the Searay in Hamilton Ontario. We waited about three weeks for the exchange rate to swing a little bit better in our favor. Got a good deal on the boat AND on the exchange rate.

JFM311 01-08-2002 01:43 PM

CORD--i rode in that 26 firehawk that badhtm is talking about--it's like new--i think it's closer to 950hp w/speedy 3--still 115mph on gps speedo--trick boat--john

Cord 01-08-2002 01:48 PM

I left a message for them, but does anybody know how much they're asking for it?

BAD HTM SR 24 01-09-2002 09:06 PM

Cord, i called Bobby at home and got some more facts about the boat. The boat has a 960 hp blower motor in it with 2 hrs on the motor since rebuild. It has a #5 speedmaster on it and a super cyborg tranny. It runs a solid 115 mph.The rigging in the boat is first class.Bobby would like to get $60k,but he would really like to move the boat. His cell phone is (203)-912-9550.He is gonna check out this thread a little later.I have seen this boat and it is very clean.

IF IT AINT A CAT THEN ITS A DOG!! :D :D

PARADOX 12-14-2007 09:26 AM

This is one of the oldest threads around.
Just for grins, Let's see what happens to it.
As far as the thread, how about sharing some manly tears, like I had when my boat flipped on the highway and was dragged on the flat bed. Or when I choke up over a dog movie, like the "Legend of Lobo", White Fang, Call of the Wild.. or when my first White GS passed away...
yup..
<<<< dog lover.. :) and have tear ducts, and man enough to admit it.

Miss seeing Tim and Dee here on the board. That's my $.02.

bluellama 12-14-2007 11:23 AM

I don't miss a 60 cent dollar ......

Audiofn 12-14-2007 01:35 PM

Man I remember when this all happened. It sucked that he lost his boat like that but luckily that is all that was lost. I think Cord has been SUPER bussy with his work and building a new house.

This brought back some memories. I remember the day well. It was a great day of boating till that happened! I remember the CG towing you back so fast your boat got up on plane. That looked weird. Hope all of you that were there that day are doing well. Have a great 08

Dan
