30 AMT vs.32 Doug Wright?

How do these boats compare- layup, weight cockpit space, speed, rough water handling, beam, etc.

Brad 02-15-2007 01:41 PM

I'm no expert but the AMT dominated in racing until the DW 32 was realsed

Ryan Beckley 02-15-2007 01:49 PM

Doug Wright designed both....BUT YOU KNEW THAT....Wiggler why do you ask the same questions over and over......the newer 32 is basically version 2.0 of the AMT, Doug designed, tooled and built the first AMT and the sold the molds. The AMT now have been built by 4 different companies ALL varying in layups..... Most run comprable the the other cats of this type. 100-115 mph depending on Set Up and power....

amt

Ryan, what is your problem, what questions over and over, have never asked about an amt... not 100% familiar with the amt, I knew Doug did some work on it, don't know the history, rode in stecz boat at loto this year, thought it was nice, just wanted to know specific differences.

berns29scarab 02-15-2007 06:07 PM

the AMT at loto was a very nice boat (actually Tantrums) Stecz isnt worth of an outboard catamaran. chris and i ran together on numerous occasions (my 30 spectre with ob's) and the boats were very similar (except mine was faster, tantrum like's my ass). the big question is would you be happy with a boat wothout a rubrail...the AMT just like the Cig Gladiator has no rub rail

Ryan Beckley 02-15-2007 06:16 PM

I guess i am gettin grumpy in my older age........just tired of reading crap ............for someone that has claimed so much.....like your two DW's at the shoot out.....and you know Doug so well.... I would just think you would ask him the difference between the two. Why did you switch your screen names anyway?

well . . .the 30 AMT that we race handles pretty well. turns hard but its a bit of a handfull in ruff water mostly due to the build, fast an light. i think they would make a pretty good pleasure boat in an open layout. we have seen 115+ with 2.5's but that was with our biggest rops an hung out to the moon tab down drives up :D i would not recomend doing it often though. she's a bit squirley  the 32 is a whole different boat as far as i can tell. like Ryan said its a progression of ealrier work.
