Ya never know what someone will pay. Not a lot of 525 22 classics out there.

Rumor has it that it was for sale for 60.......Dealer took it in for trade, and magically, it has emerged as an 80k boat.

THEJOKER 02-20-2007 12:45 PM

I have found out in the past that the word Mercury and 525 always means more $$$$$$$!

I didnt think you could get a 525 in those. Too much for too little of a boat IMO.

That sure sounds like a lot of green for not a lot of boat. I would like to see how that boat handles at 90. And you would have to have glass like water to do it. I would like to see some pics of the motor and rigging. Eddie

You know the old saying," Too much is never enough". I know of a 21 Cigarette with a hot 540 in it. It's a lot of fun on the river. That said, 80000is a bit much.

open87 02-20-2007 01:25 PM

thought mabe a typo or something...no trailer....

i am no banker , but 80k plus tax , trailer and financing would be , what , close to 100k

My 2002 w/500EFI has a heavy lay-up with two additional layers of glass in the hull, the deck is glassed to the hull, and the motor is installed with an offshore cradle, K-planes and Latham hydraulic steering. The suggested retail on mine with a steel Myco was $97K. This 525 boat would have retailed for quite a bit more. The price is high but you won't get Donzi to build a new one for under $80K. The boat was a steal for $60K since new 22's w/496's are selling for over $60K. I'm surprised no one bought it over the summer.

Thats got to be a very small market.

Saw a brand new one with 496 at Houston Boat show for 86k. Beautiful boat though if you can afford a spare for a bar runner. One of the best looking little boats on the market.

Only three 500EFI boats were produced, all 2002's, and this is said to be the only 525 boat built so far. There is no market, Donzi discovered this with the Special Edition 500EFI boats in 2002 & 03'. When the 525 originally came out Donzi said "NO" 525's in 22's then someone convinced them to build one, this one. The 525 is now listed as an engine option but only as a custom order. Powerboat did a review on the first 500EFI boat and called it the "Wild Child", said it had too much power.:D

There are several 22's out there that can break 90-MPH. Most are blown and run shortie drives, this one runs a LH prop and shortie to help get it there. Here's a cockpit video of a blown 600 22 running 92-93.

Here's the link. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/273795...ning_93_5_mph/

It was some pretty calm water, but the boat did better than I expected. Did a little chine walking, but not to bad. He did wrap the speedo around back to the beginning. :D Pretty cool. Eddie
