Good work on the calculations! However, running cross country on 64 hours is definately possible, but is hard work. When I first started driving, I couldn't go longer than 6 hours without getting tired. After a while of "training" myself how to stay awake (no-doz and Mountain Dew helped alot) and drive for 15-20 hours was obtainable.

I used to run 42" Cigs from DSM in Dana Point, Ca. to Miami in 2.5 days (or 60 hours) and it was only about 4 hours of sleep with approx. 3 hours of refueling,, food etc..... When I would stop and refuel, I would eat and use the restroom during that time and then takeoff again!

about 50 mph on average, about 500 miles in a 10 hour day, guy needs about $25/hr MINIMUM to get someone good and for them to feel like they have responsibility for your boat, so about $250/day, 500 miles a day, sounds like $.50/mile to me.

Sure, you can get it done cheep, just make sure you calculate in the added insurance cost after a claim, and or the cost of repairs from someone doing something stupid or not paying attention. Cheep help = cheep results.

i paid $1800 to have a 35 lighting towed from san jose ca. to sandusky ohio my trailer his truck and i told him $200 bonus if i would have it by the 4 th of july he made it in 2.5 days.also he insured it while it was hooked to his truck so he was very careful.

Unless you hire a proffesional class 8 driver I would think really hard about this. There's some serious hills out west & you really need to pay attention. Not to mention the jackass' in the in the car's that pull out & expect you to stop on a dime. I've been there done that and sure I'm not the only one. The question you need to ask yourself is it really worth to risk your vacation plans to maybe save a few bucks ? All you'll get from that driver is "I'm sorry" ?

I wouldn't mind doing the drive myself, love a good cross country trip, but I'm only planning on getting 3 of the 5 weeks off, and I don't want to spend a week of the time off driving.

don't worry Walt, I still be around for the june, and july runs, and I'll be back in time for Joe's run in sept. I grew up on the cape, so I'm heading back to my old stomping grounds for a while to play.

were are you planning on keepin the boat? Pompanessett is one of my favorite places on teh cape, I grew up spending summers in North Falmouth, cant wait for the summer.
