shipping boat cross country cost?
 

I'm planning on shipping my boat from wa to mass this summer then back at the end. What is a good rate to pay to have it shipped, using my own vehicle (f650) as the tow rig. Flying the driver back from mass on the trip out, and to mass for the pick up at the end of summer. It's about 3,200 miles each way.

A good rate would be .18 to .22 cents a mile,, most of the "OTR" guy's are making .40 to .43cents a mile,, hope this helps

At .22 per mile I'll get my daughter, she just got her license and she needs practice driving.

The IRS is currently allowing $.485 per mile for personal vehicle use for business. With an F350 you could get as low as 8 MPG. Fuel cost at $2.60 per gallon would calculate to $.325/mile.

That does not include wear and tear on the vehicle, man hours, tolls, food, hotels and allowances for any events that could occur along the way.

Your going to give a $350--$400K Boat and tow rig to some one and ask them to drive it cross country for .18 to .20 cents a mile ,,,, :rolleyes: make sure your insurance agent runs there BMV license ,,,,, then make your decision,,,,, Just aint know cheap way to move about the Country any more ,,,, get ready to pay the piper !!!

Good luck, I've been trying to find someone to pull the 1959 Anthony Hydro I just bought from Idaho to New Jersey. Tried several of the online shipping sites like uship and didn't even get a response. East-West is pretty tough so I'm gonna fly out, do a one way rental on a car and just do it myself.

At 3200 miles It should be about a 64 hour trip (50 mph ave)

gas should be about $1,000 (400 gal * $2.60)
expenses about $100 a day 5 days (tolls, hotel, food)
air fare $200 each way
Driver $1000. (.32 a mile, $200 a day $15.63 hr)

Total $2,700 ea way

The driver part is the area I need to figure out. Is $1000, too much? at .22 a mile that would be $700., or $140 a day

I used to transport most of D*ck Simon Marines' boats all over the country. I have logged in over 250,000 miles of towing over the years. I would say I have more experience towing than 98.% of OSO'ers on this board. The "exception" would be Jeff Murray, (maybe a few others) whom I know personally and has driven alot more and longer than I have.

Trailering a boat is not a real difficult task---but you want to make sure you have a professional who has the proper tow rig, Insurance and capabilities of trailering your boat. Jeff is a professional and I would highly reccommend him. DON'T takes chances with some "clown" who doesn't have the experience and the proper insurnace.....that's a can of worms just waiting to happen.

I was gonna say about a thousand bucks should do it.
Hes using all your stuff...with no expenses im sure you could find someone you could trust to drive.
