The rest of the story

The boat that you have...a 16" Superboat..was made from the original Eltro 16 foot molds. Jon made a new open cockpit deck, but the hull is original. That was the only production fibreglass boat that Eltro ever made. All the rest were molded plywood construction. I raced the first 16 footer ever made with twin 1250 BP's (Merc Race engines..about 135 HP each).

Eltro, from East Islip, was a company run by Jon Ives and Bob D'Arganion two disciples of Marcel Raveau...who took over his Long Island operation when he moved to Florida in the early 60's. The Eltro "non constant" vee bottom influenced a lot of boats including the Challenger/ Shadow 21. To my knowledge Jon and Bob came up with that design without Marcel Raveau's help.
