looking for info on a old movie with boats
 

I saw a movie back around 1980 that was about a diamond theif. In one of the get away scenes the thiefs get into what looks like one of the old thunderbird formula ones (about 16-18 ft) the boat is jet powered, and blast the chase boats, and cops with it's jet spray. All the boats featured were the old thunderbird tri hulls, so it makes me believe this movie boat was the design boat for the formula one.
Does anyone know the name of the movie, or have info on the boat.

Who was in it? The only diamond thief film from 1980 I can think of is Rough Cut starring Burt Reynolds.

not sure who the stars were, but not Burt, and not the James Cann movie Theif either. The only thing that really stuck out to me was the boats, and chase near the end of the movie.
Diamond Theif comes to mind as a possable name, but I only saw it the one time 25 years ago.

Are you thinking of one of the James Bond movies? Some of those had boat scenes in them.

" Live and Let Die" had a bunch of Glastron boats in chases! Good luck w/ your search!

Was that the one that had the Glastron "Scimitar" boat. It was a hard top with T-top's I think. Probably about 21'.
I loved that boat when I was a kid.

no, not a james bond film, and all the boats were thunderbird tri hulls in the 18-20 ft range. The jet boat caught my eye, then about a year or two later formula came out with their 16' fourmula one boat. It looked very similar to the movie boat.
