Very Well Put

several at LOTO, have 2 friends with them . they have 500's and run 80-82 every year at the shootout, run good in mild rough water, but was in my buddies at the Chicago poker run and beat us to death.

Is your friend looking to go new or used? The 388 is a great custom built boat overal you cant beat the quality speed a ride of the boat for the price. The boat was built to run like 85mph around 90 the boat starts to get a lil squirley. If you opt for big power they change the bottom a bit and that helps the ride alot Do Not try to do this on older boats. As far as it being a a good rough water boat ive run down all sorts of make boats in the ruff stuff and never had a problem.

I have not been in a 388 but I have ran with two different ones. They were the only boats that use to run right with my 42 fountain (2x575). I use to run the sh-t out of that boat and the hustlers did the same. In my experience Outerlimits has also been another boat that the owners tend to run the boats as oppose to cruising with it. I would put the hustler in an offshore performance category.

If he's going new then he should go with a 525 arneson boat. A really reliable package.

The 388 is a great boat for the $$ and for most of the owners the ride is great. I agree they are a bit harsh in rougher water but most guys run for the shore when tit kicks up anyway. That is a popular boat in No Cal where we run inland Delta to the SF Bay. That's a wide veriaty of water and I don't here any complaints about that hull.

This one runs nice and fast too!

Don't bother with a Cig or OL... If you need a rough water boat go get a Beak Boat.

I think Charlie Shaffer's '99 388 "Nauti Girl" has run as fast as 83 - 84 in the Shootout with stock 500 carbs. It is a poker run boat with no cabin and a kevlar layup.
