Default When is a boat

considered a classic?Any certain criteria that they have to meet or are they like cars.

Performance or looks (or both) need to stand the test of time before she can be considered a classic.

I agree on the 25 yrs.
I think there might be a few that slip in there that are a little younger, or were still in production, but 25 is a pretty good benchmark.
It was the mid-80's when designs both hull and cosmetic seemed to start changing from what I remember as the "classic" offshore years.

Right. The avanti is an 85 but i do not consider it a classic because
1. They had a bad rep and were not well known
2. Ive never seen another one in person
I do consider her old school though...

OOH, I like this.

Starting a debate of whether it's a "classic" or it is "old school".
I guess classic is a legend that has a manfacturer name attached. A proven hull. Even if limited production for whatever reason.
Old School - I'll let you all define it.
