"New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club Sponsor MarineMax
Provides NJPPC Members With A FREE “Safe Boating Class”

Toms River, NJ, February 25, 2007 – Earlier this month, New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) Sponsor Marine Max of Brick NJ, provided a complimentary Safe Boating class and final exam for a group of 45 NJPPC members.

In 2006, the New Jersey State Legislature passed a law requiring all power vessel operators, regardless of date of birth, to possess a state issued boat safety certificate. This was in lieu of a state wide speed limit an all tidal waterways.

The interactive class was held in their showroom and Marine Max provided a complete breakfast for all of the attendees and lunch was provided compliments of NJPPC. Marine Max also paid for the expense of all class materials including the final exam.

The class and the final exam were administered by Capt. Harry Vliet of Marine Max. Eight hours later, all 45 participants passed the final exam and were issued NJ Boat Safety Certificates.

Capt. Harry Vliet recently retired from the NJ State Police where he was involved with the oversight of several Marine stations during the last 8 years of his service. During this time, Lt. Vliet was involved in the oversight of most organized marine events along the Jersey Shore including NJPPC Poker Runs.

When Capt. Harry Vliet proposed the class to NJPPC President Dave Patnaude, he stated “NJPPC was always pro-active in promoting safe boating while I was a State Trooper and was always cooperative with law enforcement and the sailing clubs in the community. This is my way to give back and thank the club members for their years of support and cooperation.”

As a token of appreciation for their generosity, NJPPC President Dave Patnaude presented Tom Cole (Marine Max Store Manager), Scott Harvey (Marine Max General Sales Manager) and Capt. Harry Vliet with engraved plaques to thank them for a great day.

About the New Jersey Performance Powerboat ClubThe New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) was founded in 1999 and has over 200 members. The NJPPC is a members-run club that’s charter is to provide its members with top quality Poker Runs and other exciting events. It enthusiastically welcomes a broad cross-section of performance powerboaters to join the club. Its schedule is planned considering both smaller and larger boats. Consequently, its membership spans from owners of 18’ to 50’ boats!

Distinct from other Poker Run organizations, the club chooses to limit the number of event participants to assure safety, promote camaraderie and to facilitate a well-run, enjoyable day for all involved. The limited number also affords access to the highest quality marine facilities such as Trump Marina Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The club has no profit motivation prompting it to host the biggest events – but it is strongly motivated to run the best events and in that way, everybody profits! NJPPC membership is required to participate in the club Poker Runs.
