New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club announces their 2008 Schedule!

Toms River, NJ, December 9, 2007 - The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) Planning Committee met last month to review the 2007 Season as well as develop the upcoming 2008 Season schedule. The NJPPC Planning Committee headed by club President Dave Patnaude, meets regularly throughout the year and makes all major decisions that impact NJPPC. The Planning Committee plays a huge roll in schedule planning, event rule changes, new event ideas and most importantly how to execute all of the club’s events. The Planning Committee is also well balanced in regard to the Committee members and the types of boats that they own. This ensures that all members of NJPPC are fairly represented when event planning takes place.

Last month the Planning Committee decided on the following events for the 2008 season:

Saturday February 9th 2008 - Atlantic City Boat Show Winter Party
This annual event allows members old and new to get together for the first time since the end of the boating season the previous year. It is a casual evening with elegant dining where we celebrate friendships and honor a few special members from last year’s season.

Sunday May 25th 2008 - Memorial Day Weekend Social
This annual event has proven to be a fun and relaxing one. It is also the first event of the boating season! No pre-planning and no advance registration is needed. Members come together at the Captain’s Inn in Forked River NJ for an afternoon of good food, good times and some “busting chops” since it is the first time we get together as a group for the new boating season!

Friday June 20th 2008 - Atlantic City Overnight Poker Run
This annual event has been the epicenter of the NJPPC schedule since it’s inception back in 1998. Last year, we moved this event to a Friday instead of Saturday. The result? A 95% approval rating from the attendees!! Half of the participants went home on Saturday. The other half spent the weekend at Trump Marina and had a “Lunch Fun Run” to Lamberti’s in Margate. This year we will repeat 2007’s event with the addition of a formal departure on Friday afternoon to accommodate those people that need to tend to business in the morning. We will also have Tim Sharkey hanging out of a helicopter once again to cover all of the action with his ZOOM lens!

Saturday June 28th 2008 - Wave Runner Poker Run
This was a new “outside the box” event that we tried for the first time in 2006. The result? A huge success that warranted 2 Wave Runner Poker Runs in 2007. This event is the first of two Wave Runner Poker Runs for the 2008 season.

Saturday July 5th 2008 - Raft Up – Tices Shoals
This was another new “outside the box” event that we tried for the first time in 2006. That year we had 18 boats rafted side by side. In 2007, our new record was 25 boats. This year, we are looking to break that record! This is another event that requires no pre-planning and no advance registration. The day consists of great food and drink, laughs and unlimited swimming and rafting fun!

Saturday July 12th 2008 - Shore Dreams For Kids
This event which was originally started by the Day on the Bay Foundation in the 70’s. Since then this events has put smiles on 1,000’s of Special Olympians as well as mentally and physically challenged children, special needs children, and their families. This event offers a day of entertainment which includes a “carnival atmosphere” complete with games and small rides, an antique & classic car display, food and drinks, live entertainment and performance powerboat rides on Barnegat Bay at the Jersey Shore. The boat rides are conducted by local performance powerboat owners who volunteer their time and boats to share with those less fortunate. This is definitely a DO NOT MISS event!

Saturday August 2nd 2008 - Roar At The Shore Poker Run
This event was last produced several years ago out of Windward Beach on the Metedeconk River in Brick NJ. The NJPPC Planning Committee decided to bring this event back this year and “change it up big time!” The planning of this event is going to be one of the main focuses of organization as we enter 2008. Stay tuned for details!!!!!!

Friday August 22nd 2008 - NJPPC Chesapeake Bay Annapolis & Cambridge Rendezvous'
This is a brand new event for NJPPC! This event has been planned to quench the thirst of those members who wish to travel a short distance to an entirely new boating area that is different from the Jersey Shore. The event will consist of overnight stays at the upscale Annapolis Marriott as well as the luxurious Hyatt in Cambridge Maryland. Stay tuned for more details on this event as we move into the 2008 season!!! (this event will be limited to 25 boats)

Saturday August 30th 2008 - Wave Runner Poker Run
This will be the second installment of what has become a very successful event for NJPPC and it will also serve as the last “official” event for NJPPC’s 2008 Season!

We are very excited about the 2008 schedule and we look forward to having another SAFE & FUN season where boating and friendships flourish!

About the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club
The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) was founded in 1999 and has over 200 members. The NJPPC is a members-run club that’s charter is to provide its members with top quality Poker Runs and other exciting events. It enthusiastically welcomes a broad cross-section of performance powerboaters to join the club. Its schedule is planned considering both smaller and larger boats. Consequently, its membership spans from owners of 18’ to 50’ boats!

Distinct from other Poker Run organizations, the club chooses to limit the number of event participants to assure safety, promote camaraderie and to facilitate a well-run, enjoyable day for all involved. The limited number also affords access to the highest quality marine facilities such as Trump Marina Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The club has no profit motivation prompting it to host the biggest events – but it is strongly motivated to run the best events and in that way, everybody profits! NJPPC membership is required to participate in the club Poker Runs.

For further information please visit the club’s website at: http://www.njppc.com. NJPPC can be contacted via telephone at 732 674-2946, via email at [email protected] or via mail at: Dave Patnaude – President, NJPPC, 604 North End Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753.
