I agree with aesthetics, but a small one would look ok I think. The Formula windshields didn't look too bad, especially if the rails were chromed. But the Fountain windshields from a few years ago were outrageous, probably not to mess up a certain company founder's hair!

Many performance boats are built for rough offshore conditions more than speed. Windsheilds are the first thing to start rattling, have mounting break, or worse.

Have you seen the windshields Outerlimits is doing? They look like a framed out fighter jet but framed all the way around. Very cool workmanship, rugged looking and seems to be extremely well built and the only windshield I like.

Have a buddy that had a 42 beaker and has a 47 now and has had constant probs. w/ the windshield screws getting loose and the very back ones breaking in the fiberglass(bolts may have been a better choice). I was traveling w/ another buddy years ago down the Detroit river, he had a Formula 312. We were go'n 40-50mph in about 1 foot chop at most and his entire windshield shattered all over him and his girlfriend! I had 4 Formula's and never had any shields break but was tightening screws frequently.

Earlier post that somehow didn't appear ... like FeverMike said, Outerlimits is doing a great job with its "half canopies." MTI has been being on the quarter canopy arrangement, as well as half canopies. Definitely tough to break, unlike conventional windshields, as someone earlier was smart to point out. Conventional windshield also don't do much for deck line continuity. The new stuff from OL and others is spectacular.
