TOPS those were X motors not the XS motors.... and they weren't fast compared to some of the US 28 Skaters!

Default Box Stock

Twin Modified motors( 2.5's and 300x) have pushed 28 Skaters over 125.

My question is where do the new XS motors stand in this comparison?

Only issue is that they start to shut down at 6150 and go into gaurdian at 6300. I would imagine with the 1.62 gear ratio you will run out of prop like me.

great engines.

Dan,

I am going with 1.62 gear ratio, 14 1/2 x 32 cleaver 3 blades. When Jim was at at the Powerboat Mag test for the 30 skater, they ran 32s, but Jim & I are hoping we run out of prop and plan to try a 34.

My boat is runing 109 full of fuel or empty with 15x34 cleavers stock. I saw 112 on a flat calm day.

your boat easily will turn the 34's

The boat ran 118 with the 280's 116 everyday so I know more speed is in it.

Dan So as of now the 300xs lost app.5mph compared to the 280ros ? Did the boat gain weight as a result of the pleasure conversation?

I have not weighed the boat. I don't think it is slower because I am on the rev limiters with the 34's. The motors stop making horsepower at 6100-6150 cylinders are flooded oil. The efficiency of the boat carry the boat to 6300 and the motors go into gaurdian mode.

If I had a set of 36 pitch props the boat would be faster.

Basically its going to be difficult with the 07 model year motors to see 120 mph with out custom props. I would bet that eventually mercury will increase the rpms on the motors as they get more time.

Dan I agree if your motors will pull the same speed empty or full. Horsepower is not the issue. Talk with BBlades about props. Maybe 4blades would help
