boatme 03-23-2007 06:56 AM

Parn (Nauty Kitty) and Curt (Primal instinct) still have a few weeks to get there boats done

Major projects going on with both boats

Steve (Blue Moon ) Is a good bet

What about you Todd?

Going to be a warm weekend

boatme 03-23-2007 06:58 AM

actually Parn will be sooner than Curt I think

Parn could be real soon if he and his side kick (My Son ) finish their upgrades I know they are all working hard on the weekends to get things buttoned up

Car Biz 03-23-2007 07:50 AM

i know it won't be me. I have got a TON of stuff to do:(

michigan troll 03-23-2007 08:53 AM

I was in the barn last night going thru the boat. I wont try it until after spring break. Water levels should be good with all the snow and rain.

Dreamer1q 03-23-2007 08:56 AM

Wont be me, painting the Lib on April 20th.

On a side note, on my way home from work in holland yesterday, I went by the Grand River where the River Queen sits in the summer. Some guy was running his Wave Runner full bore down the river in what looked like just shorts.

sleeper_dave 03-23-2007 09:39 AM

Not lake Michigan, but there was someone on lake st clair on March 13th. He posted pictures of himself on an ice floe drinking beer, with the boat anchored to the ice.

There was another guy out on his stand-up jet ski (in a drysuit) dodging ice floes on March 16.

Depends on where you boat in MI.

Lave levels vs. last year as of today:

Superior -18"

Michigan -1"

St.Clair +6"

Huron +7"

michigan troll 03-23-2007 09:47 AM

We have run Lake Mich in April before. Bring your snowmobile suits. You will be able to see your breath when your on the water.

Pismo10 03-23-2007 09:48 AM

Can you swim in Lake Michigan? Does the water ever warm up? How warm?

carrboy 03-23-2007 09:56 AM

U can swim in any water if u've got big enough balls...they might not be so big when u get out though:eek:

Usually by the end of June you can swim...heck, it's downright WARM sometimes in August...but then you'll get a big storm that'll flip the lake and bring the cold water up...it's best to test it before jumping in!

Sure

it has gotten on mid 70s often in the summer

you FL guys are wimps when it comes to swimming

to us 65 degree water to swim in is just mildly cool :)

we always used to body surf in September and October then the water is coooold

michigan troll 03-23-2007 10:20 AM

For the past two years we have boated and gone swimming in Lake Superior. The water was in the low 70's up there. That was in the Munising/Grand Marais area in July. The air temp was 100+/-. Figure that one out! Normaly it never gets above 80 up there.

yzbert 03-23-2007 11:12 AM

the bay is still frozen up here.

Downtown42 03-23-2007 12:16 PM

I'll be rockin in about a week in Milwaukee. :D

dukenrock 03-23-2007 04:48 PM

Magic Medicine 03-23-2007 06:45 PM

I won't be the first. I have a few projects that I want to get ironed out.

How's Sunday looking? New Buffalo or Michigan City. We'll probably breeze our Falls off!

Kevin,

Camera's plugged in. Let me know if you are serious. Going out for a bit, but I will check back here when I get home late tonight.

Haven't seen the weather forecast for tomarrow yet, but I have an Eddie Bauer Ridge Line parka and a MC helmet!:D

dukenrock 03-24-2007 09:24 PM

Fired up the motors today and found a small fuel leak in one of the new fittings that I installed with the Floscans. Other then that everything looks good. I'm gonna get up early tomorrow to see what's up. Winds 15-20. I'd love to dunk it. Let's see what happens.

Would take me probably 3 hours to get there, but I'm up for it if you are going. Give me a ring early @ 419-882-1680 or 419-450-0896 if you are going to do it.

dukenrock 03-25-2007 08:10 AM

Raining and overcast right now...doesn't look promising. :(
I'm gonna take a look at the leak and see if it's a bad fitting. I'll call you if there's a chance we can go.

Yep, saw the weather forecast early this am. Didn't look too good over that way ... big thunderstorms. So I turned over and went back to bed!:D

I'm off next weekend too, so let me know if that looks better.

Don't know if I still have your number at the lake house, PM to me so I can get you on the weekends.

yzbert 03-25-2007 06:11 PM

dukenrock 03-25-2007 07:46 PM

Chris,
PM with the number. Turned out to be a great day! Cleaned the Chopper and cooked out. I'll be leaving for AZ on Thursday for a week. I'm ready!

Todd Hartigh 03-25-2007 07:50 PM

We were out a few hours yesterday and all day today in Grand Haven with a U-17 unlimited. Very cold saturday but today was great.

boatme 03-25-2007 09:45 PM

Todd we were having late lunch at Snug harbor on the deck and saw you guys go out and come back in

I got a sunburn sitting outside eating what a change a week makes in Michigan

Todd Hartigh 03-25-2007 10:19 PM

I was surprised to see the deck was full today! Have to enjoy it while we can. I was gonna take mine out but was to lazy to pull it out of the garage.

Did you and cherie (spelling?) find a new boat yet?

Ms PatriYacht 03-26-2007 07:51 AM

http://www.speedwake.com/upload/show...threadid=47245

I just saw this and was going to say, I think these guys might have won:D

Ms PatriYacht 03-26-2007 07:53 AM

dumb question, but I thought there could be an engine problem if the water was to cold, or do you use a differnt grade of oil.

Todd Hartigh 03-26-2007 09:00 AM

That was the pic I posted on the other site.

The water temp really does not matter. No different than a car or truck with a big block. Once the engine warms up the oil will get up to temp. The only slight concern would be if the engine does not get up to 140deg., it would not burn off the condensation from the oil. That can happen on summer day though.

baronmarine 03-26-2007 08:03 PM

todd looks like you and your buddy win. we were out there saturday it was pretty cold. drove by your house but it looked quiet. we did see marc (boatme) at barretts. i wanted to stop and say hello but i had to get home to get the kids. see you on the water when it warms up.
todd
