Default Kids' "ride-on" toys ???

OK ... my boys (age 7 and 4 ) have been buggin me for one of those little "jeeps" or "hummers" like alot of their little bubbies have .

They have saved up some $$$ over the last couple b-days and Christmas and doing chores and stuff sooo .... Here;s the deal .... i don't really want to get them one of those cheap things from Toy-Be-Us ....

What else is out there that you folks have seen for the kids to ride around the yard that would be cooler then a plastic , battery operated jeep ????

These things are pretty cool. A buddy of mine bought one for his 6 year old, and he rides it non stopped. Look to be about the same price you might spend on a little battery jeep. http://www.minipocketrockets.com/cobra-mini-quads/

We just gave one away a few weeks ago that I would recommend. It was bought at Toys-R-us but wasn't one of the cheap ones (about $450). It was made by a Mexican company (Peg Perego) and the only problem I had with it was a switch after 18 months, they sent me a replacement free of charge!!!
My kids ended up cooking the battery from so much use so I bought a Walmart lawn mower battery and hooked it up that way (Walmart battery was 1/2 of theirs and seemed to make the thing go even faster than the factory battery). Mind you this thing was rated at 5MPH instead of 3 MPH like the cheap Hot Wheels ones that sell for $200 or so) If I needed another one I would stronger consider another of the same brand.

Go cart. And they will never out grow it. Get one thats big enough to allow room to grow and adjust the govenor for top speed right now.

a yamaha pw50, or one of the small atv's the atvs never loose their value...as you hardly ever see them for sale used..they just keep running forever and passed down thru the family. the more the kids run motorized vehicles and develope the skills do do it well..the less headaches your going to have when they hit 16

Me too! They are pretty much timeless. And you can restrict the speed for the little ones.

I agree. A used XR50 or new CRF 50 Honda would be killer bikes for them to learn on. Or a small quad would be cool too. I'm partial to the bikes though.
They run forever with minimal maintenance and you can sell them for as much as you paid for them if you buy used and keep them nice.
Same goes with the 80cc Hondas when they outgrow the 50s
