There are about 10 cylinders that make the top go up and down. If one is leaking you can replace that one and hope the others don't leak. However, most times if one is leaking the rest will leak after you fix the first one becuase of pressure build up. The cylinder you have to buy, my cost is $135 for the part. The front cylinders are 4-5inches and the ones in the back are 14-15inches. List is $775 for the back cylinders and I get 20% off at Benz as I'm sure you do being a car dealer. If we have a problem with one, we replace them all.

there is a left and a right locking cylinder at the top of the windshield on a 129 body, the two are easy to change unlike a lot of the other cylinders, change the 2 above the windshield , they leak the most on your model, if you need any work instructions call my home at 409 8668864 I can fax you factory instructions , also the pump and reservoir is in the trunk under the spare tire holder, fill it to the line on the side, you can also call my work at Mercedes Benz of Beaumont, at 4098402000 ext 114 ask for mark rush in service dept

dealer is going to charge you list price for parts plus labor, around 2.5 hours .[ normal labor rate around $100.00 to 125.00 per hour] if top wont move fill reservoir, lower top, cylinders are changed from the top side, the cylinders have a slide clip that locks the line into it,[remember you have a left and right side] pull slide clip will release line, cylinder has 2 screws that hold it to latch and latch has a few holding it to windshield frame, after you replace fill reservoir and cycle top [thats how you bleed it also]

hearing all kinds of stories...that the fluid is $40 a pint, the top has to be re-set, once you disconnect the cylinders, you need the computer to reset the codes that are gonna pull in the cars computer etc...any truth or all BS
