Kilo run..oops..I mean crawl..

so who has the slowest boat here?? my best is 47.8, one way pass on a hand held etrex gps. 1 person on board, light fuel. what I cant figure out is why with 7 people, over 1/2 tank of fuel and a really big cooler, I can still do 45.

glassdave 03-29-2007 07:19 AM

well . . . i'm not to far behind (or is it in front :D) my ScarabIII does a blistering 58.3 mph down the might Maumee river. Its OK with me though what this baby lacks in speed she makes of for in comfort. :drink:

Ted G 03-29-2007 09:21 AM

You guys are total slackers. My Silverton hits a whopping 24.8 mph wide open with both 250 hp Chrysler 360s screaming at an awesome 4200 rpms........

Tabs up and low on booze :p :D

Brad Zastrow 03-29-2007 09:31 AM

Rinker Deckboat 24' when trimmed out and light on fuel will hit a blistering 31mph. All the while I am holding a cocktail. :drink:

1992 19' "Deckboat" brand deckboat. Original w/ 175 evinrude. 12 passengers and a beer keg in the middle still tops out at 42. It will also pull 2 skiers with a boat load of people.

fountain1fan 03-29-2007 10:44 AM

my little scout will run 55 mph with a 22 pitch 4 blade turbo x 90 hp merc .. sweet. 1 person running on fumes 24 p merc chopper 65mph . :D

Knot 4 Me 03-29-2007 10:48 AM

The guys on my dock named my boat, "Fat Ba$tard". She sets the water on fire at a cheek flapping 54 MPH GPS. Still faster than my last boat - a 266 Crownline with a 7.4MPI that ran a cheek puckering 48 MPH GPS.

SLOWOUTBOARD 03-29-2007 01:02 PM

1 Attachment(s)
1969 whaler with merc 25 28-29 mph depending on if i have a 6 pack or 12 pack on board:D

DoTheMath 03-29-2007 01:38 PM

my 2006 Whaler 170 Montauk w/ a 90hp 4S Merc on it used to run 42 WFO with a 19" S/S Vengenace on it. I then moved the motor up one set of holes and now she runs a smokin' 44 WFO!

I like this thread.
My 1996 32' Fountain Sport Fish Cruiser with STOCK 454's, bravo 1's and 14.25 x 25 p Mirages ran 62.7 mph on the factory spec sheet. I've never been over 57 mph.
Nice thing is on poker runs everyones wakes are gone by the time I'm up and running.
Boat is also heavy for a 32', 8700lbs dry.
Come on, there's got to be more of you crawlers out there,
ed

Do you have the carb. 4 stroke or the EFI engine?

My sister has a 2005 montauk with the carb 4 stroke and its in the shop every two months on the spot with fuel system problems. Mercury's answer: poor design, was corrected on the new EFI model. Purchase and EFI model.

the kicker, boston whaler has to hold up the warranty, not mercury, and whaler is being a pain in the azz.

I'm sorry i recommended boston whalers to her and her husband. Great boat, not great customer service. (unless you buy a bigger boat)

266 bow rider. 7.4MPI (310 HP) with a Bravo III and props worked by Bronson Hill. Hulls have hook built into them to keep 'em from porpoising and therefore they are not very fast. Most ran about 50 MPH with that setup. Mine was a bit slower for some reason. Mine did great in rough water. Ran it 2 seasons down at LOTO. They have 22 degrees of deadrise and are very sharp at the bow. Drop the tabs down a tad and trim at neutral and she would cut through most of the rough stuff within reason.

Yeah, I had heard that about the '05, but the '06 is an EFI (it is actually a Yamaha powerhead) and runs like a top! I love that little boat - it literally is gas-n-go and goes forever on a tank of gas.

TeamSaris 03-29-2007 03:42 PM

Mini Hawk- low to mid 40s

Avanti-65

Both GPS

jtmiller02 03-29-2007 09:33 PM

parasail boat=fastest boat ever..

wish i could tell ya, but they don't put a speedo on it, prob cause everyone would be pissed about 130 grand for a boat that won't hit 40
