If you want to see a difference, look in places you would ordinarily not look, like behind the headliner, under the carpet and up under gunwale caps. I currently own both so I know.

2 names are synonymous with power boating

1) FOUNTAIN
2)MERCURY

I agree that the Cig has a better fit and finish but you pay for it. I have owned both and I think they both are good boats. I do like Cigarettes better but a Fountain is a good boat for the money, in my opinion.

can someone explain why a Cig has a big freeboard, deep hull but weighs less than a Fountain with shallow freeboard?

Where's the beef for more fiberglass?????

say a 38 Gun to a 42 Fountain.

I am not talking about fit and finish. You can see that. I am talking about structural integrity. Stuff you would never see under average circumstances. Maybe it is different though if you buy a 47 with triple 1075 mercs for full retail. Maybe it would not matter if you buy a boat, use it hard for a year or two and trade it off the next guy.

I will admit though for functional (hull) design, One stands alone.
