Most Reliable 1000hp to 1200hp injected rotor engine-Who makes it?

Have a need for a fuel injected, quad rotor as reliable as possible marine engine, Is it possible for 40k-50k without headers, Is 200 hours before rebuild possible, A few builders come to mind- JC, Gellner, Young, Teague,Pfaff,KE,Mercury but not within budget and 25k rebuild after 50 hours unacceptable,, any thoughts appreciated.

burtandnancy 03-31-2007 05:29 PM

Merc 1075 or 1250. Very dependable, good idle characteristics, work well around the dock. Warrantee, etc...

The Quad-Rotor by whipple has been discontinued(?)
But we have built multiple Quad Rotor 1300HP motors. We have also built a very nice 1100EFI that runs flawless (26 Checkmate  ). Give Us a Call-Saris Racing Engines 518-644-3080

There are also a couple of OSO members with them.

Call Paul Pfaff super guy with alot of knowledge. He builds true custom motors to your needs. Most other companies are building cookie cutter motors (not a bad thing) Pfaff builds to your needs. We have ran Teagues, Gt, And Pfaff.

I Also have a quad rotor 3.3 for sale only ran a couple of months. If you are interested in it for a motor Call 815-543-9105 Ryan.

Tazz 03-31-2007 09:53 PM

Most reliable? Merc of course...

TSPM 04-01-2007 12:16 PM

Pfaff & Teague...we have used both and are very reliable with great support from either one. They have been building EFI motors for many years and know their stuff.

stecz20 04-01-2007 12:17 PM

i thought i heard it was the 1000hp masher from jc perf....

What expierence do you have with Teague or Pfaff? You bought one boat with a Teague 900 and it has been sitting on your showroom floor for two years?

A reliable 1000hp motor means what?

It runs 52 hours instead of 48.55 when it blows up... :D:D:D

Call Eddie Young. 504 416 3607. Cyclone and Nashville Catz are two boats that come to mind with his Quad Rotor motors. He has more out there. Joe Murray

Forget about the 200 hours not going to happen. Also if you want a quality piece you'll spend more than 50k. Also Merc. is no better than any other nice efi motor. I love what Falcon Performance has done with the motors in my boat. They are still carb motors but they look cool & the docking is the best I've seen with carbs.

IndyToys 04-03-2007 12:26 AM

Definitely call Bill at Shumaker Performance - 317-862-3919 ...guy knows his stuff...you won't find anyone better in the midwest! Honest too for a change...

offshoredrillin 04-03-2007 07:48 AM

How come no one at loto will build it for you?

mrhorsepower1 04-03-2007 11:03 AM

We can also build you what you need. We have one of the fastest full cabin NorTech 43 V's in the country out of the shop . Boat has run 120 MPH at lake X. The killer thing about it is, we built the engines in 1991 and raced them for 3 years in Modified class. They then went into 2 Black Thunders and now the Nortech. Cranks are still std/std ect....never an engine failure. Good Luck in your quest!

That model has run quite well lately.... 565ci. JCs was quite good last year, mine is killing everyone and Vinny's Skater may have had some recent press...

Go with a Teague motor with the new Whipple 5 liter blower. Makes as much power as a quad rotor but with one Supercharger. They look crazy cool. The Throttle body is super huge:D

I was just down at Teague's place and saw a set of 1000hp motors that where in for a fresh overhaul, they had 600 hrs on them:eek:

Teague stuff works and he stands behind everything he sells.

I just witnessed him take care of a Quad Rotor TCM1100 that got hurt.

Are you saying the motors had 600 hours since they had been apart or since they were originally built with multiple freshen ups in between? There are no magic valve springs, rings, lifters and other "service" parts that outlast all others by 6-1 in these 6000 rpm boosted applications. I recently tore down my 950 hp efi blower motor that had just over 100 hours on it,it could have went another 30-50 hours with the exception of a few minor things that would be addressed better in a 50,000 dollar engine but 600 hours from any of the popular combinations of blown 540,555,565,572,598 etc is quite a stretch,Smitty

Bob told me that they had 600 original hours on them. I believe him.

Point is that he builds stuff to last not just make big power.

When things are set up right and get proper maintenance there is no reason why they can't last a long time.

They guys that have built a ton of engine over a couple decades know how to make them last.
