I wouldn't sell, your boat is paid off. You won't get as nice a boat after depreciation. I'd find away to come up with the gas money, run less/float more. And like one of the guys said already all day entertaining kids=one day of gas money.

Dean I have cut way back on the length of my trips as a result of fuel prices. I'm not on the water any less. i just don't go as far. BTW, my oldest is 6 and youngest is almost 3. The oldest one can't get enough of the water. Its still growing on younger guy, but he enjoys it more all the time. I'm doing the opposite as dyno. I'm looking to go bigger. |
Thanks for all the advice, I think I'll keep it! buy a cheaper tow vehicle and see what happens.

I kinda agree w/ BGIII here... hi/dry storage.
plus no more towing and dipping w/ the kids around. just get to the marina and the boat's waiting in the water. I know that cost 100-120/ft by me, whats it over by you guys? |

Twins do NOT necessarily burn twice the fuel in mpg's as a single. It depends on the engine hp and efficiency of each engine and each boat.
My old boat (30 Scarab) burned 30 gallons per hour at cruise (50 mph), the Apache burns about 40 hr at cruise (58 mph) but we get there faster so in the end it burns slightly more over a long cruise but it's not a night and day difference. |

Bill I live a block fro Eldeans on the north side of Lake Mack but they wont pick up anything bigger than a 29 Quest so that pushes me to Great Lakes again and a 30 min. ride to the boat when I live 1000 ft from it.....That sucks! Have you heard of any deals this season for in/out???you would think that they would be hurtin just like the rest of us....

i live 10minutes from my local marinas in my town, which is on the LI sound. I'm boatless :( now, but next time around i will really consider taking a 30minute ride to the south shore to boat in the ocean, and keep it high/dry instead of on a lift.

My setup is super cheap, 1998 F-150 and Scarab 22. It has ZERO impact to the other things I am doing or trying to do. And gas prices, I don't even care! Anybody could afford this, and you still get to have somewhat of an offshore feel... kind-of... maybe? Hey, at least I can get on the water.
I am going to upgrade though once the truly critical things are in place. |
