How would a toterhome work for taking a boat around for runs, are they good on wet ramps?

BlakeandBrock 04-04-2007 12:38 PM

Go ahead and get into numbers..... I'm dying to know.

What an incredible boat. Congrats to Randy and all of MTI

Not good, very heavy on the front axle and ok on the rear with a fully loaded race trailer, however a boat trailer is not going to put any significant weight on the rear axle. Besides that, toter's have lousy turning circle, not much use for anything except pulling a race trailer and getting to write off as a second home etc.

I would be very afraid of backing that particular one down any boat ramp.

carrboy 04-04-2007 12:50 PM

What were u guys doing with that ford on the boat launch???Backing it down in the water to put a "tailpipe fire" out:evilb: LMAO:drink:

That looks like the ramp in the Ozarks that we launced at. Very steep. Is that a problem with tractor rigs slipping back like that? Did you try having the boat running push the whole rig out?

Steep wasn't the problem, the trailer dropped off the end of the ramp and the drive tires were wet. It is going to be fun for them to find ramps long enough for the 55.

No weight on tandems - you should be bob tailing in the rain and have a car stop in front of you all of a sudden!

I was thinking along the lines of a 19 footer, but was also curous how it would do on a ramp. It would save on having to find rooms.

Bostonirish 04-04-2007 04:12 PM

That 55 MTI is seriously impressive! Congrats to the owner.

Wild 04-04-2007 04:25 PM

Is it staying at LOTO or just testing the waters

Another problem with toter homes is running afoul of the 65' overall length rule, Florida has been cracking down on what was previously a mostly unenforced rule. Now they are requiring permits for anything over 65. Wouldn't be surprised to see some other states follow suit.

Which one? The Ford, the Ford pulling the KW, or the 55 MTI?
