If I didn't already have 2 projects in the works I would have jumped all over it. Come on Panther or Sak, save this thing!!!

It already has some teal on it...all I would have to do is add some pink! :p

I would if it was a fire sale....:( Nick is rich, maybe he'll do it!

Panther 04-12-2007 04:23 PM

Good going Mr_V...... now there's like 5 more bidders... :chick:

cosmic12 04-12-2007 04:26 PM

man I wish I could

hunster 04-12-2007 10:26 PM

No thanks dude , should have bought that 24 superboat outboard 2 weeks ago. That would be worth it , this is just a mess. If you buy it I'll do the interior though!

That boat will need a full resto. Mine was in much better shape when I started and it still took more work than I planned. What is it they say.....what ever your budget is....double it.

If I didn't do the Anthony I would have done this Apache. Its a cool classic boat, Panther should own it and repower it with a small block blower motor. There was a really cool 18 Donzi V-drive that I wanted to do but was already comitted to the '59 Anthony. I promised my wife only 1 project a year.
Budget for the resto would be pretty high, I put $10K into the 13' CAT project (almost $2K in PPG paint alone) with 100% my labor for 5 months (good thing I didn't go into it with a budget) and who knows what will go into the Anthony, we'll have to see about you doing the interior, was thinking back to back bench in this one to keep the CG over the sponsons. Going to do a resto on the motor too, actually found a 1250 Inline short shaft to put on the back, gonna paint it white and put the Mark 78A cover on it. Not offshore but a cool hydro for the wife. The boat should be here by late next Sat if I don't get mugged and raped pulling home.

1987 22' Apache Scout

There were only two 22' Apache Scouts ever made with big-blocks in 1986, the first year of the I/O's. And they were MerCruiser 330 TRS packages. One was painted red, white & blue & was a long time fixture at Ft. Apache & the other was a black gelcoat hull with a white gelcoat deck w/gold & black stripes, which I owned and sold to the owner(Ted) of the Apache Bar & Grill, about 1988-89. He wanted a boat to commute back & forth to his home, which was straight out the Apache canal directly across the lake. Both boats went 60 m.p.h. In the 1987 model year, some of the big-block "Magnum" Alpha packages were installed.

That's exactly what I thought when Mr_V brought it to my attention yesterday. All the mini-Apache's I've seen have Alpha's or Apha SS drives.

cosmic12 04-13-2007 09:30 AM

Hey Mr. V, Anthony? Never heard of that one, any more pics? It looks like a neat boat. I am looking for some old finned almost automotive late fifties early sixties OB to restore. Know of anything? I love that stuff:cool:

This is true. And we only built, if memory serves, 1 or 2 small-block packages with the 300 Tempest/Alpha SS. Lots of regular Alpha 260 MerCruiser packages, and even more with outboards.:) You know something, I just remembered something...We did rig a few with the MerCruiser "Magnum" 330 h.p. 454 Alpha packages, beginning in '87. Almost forgot.:drink: I corrected my above post. These packages all ran exactly 74 M.P.H. & had great acceleration.

Here's a like to all the Anthony pics, Brian is the previous owner.
http://spudsgarage.com/a1.htm

check out http://spudsgarage.com/b1.htm This is the other boat he is fixing up. Take a look at the cat he bought to get the 1500XS, so far has been unable to identify the manufacturer of that hull.

I mostly look either Ebay or www.fiberglassics.com Once in a while if I have nothing to do I go through craigslist but its tough. The Anthony came through a contact on S&F

The Anthony is in great shape, as far as I can tell from the pics. It does need a new floor but my assumption is a complete rebuild so no matter how bad it is I'm ok. I've heard the boat was a hot rod of it's time, also found another owner in WA with 100hp on the back said the boat runs mid 60s though he doesn't have a short shaft motor. I'm hoping with the 125 short shaft and a decent prop it should be into the 70s. If all else fails I'll drop a pair of worked Stingers on the transom, but then it wouldn't be "period correct." I am sticking with the 1250 inline 6 short shaft which is from 1969.

As for the Apache, come on Panther pull the trigger :evilb:

You mean looks like this?

It is about 5 miles from my house If you want I will check it out and take more pics.

cosmic12 04-14-2007 06:58 AM

thanks for the offer but it is a little to $$$ for a toy that will have to sit and wiat and wait for me at this point. Would be nice though

McGary911 04-14-2007 08:21 AM

I've never heard of these smaller Apaches. Can anyone give me a brief rundown on them? Doesn't look like too deep of a V, surely not 22^, huh? They look like interesting boats, that's for sure. Anyone know how they run, or handle chop? That boat in Jacksonville is pretty close to my place as well.

cosmic12 04-14-2007 08:26 AM

Great little river rockets I would love to have one. If its that close go ck it out and let us know what you think. I don't think they would be much good in any kind of rough stuff or were ever intended for it. But could be a ball on small lakes and rivers. just a classie little go fast:cool:

bouyhunter 04-14-2007 11:46 AM

That Apache is a cool little boat.
Seems like a long dollar for it though, I'm thinking 50% less is more realistic.

bouyhunter 04-14-2007 11:49 AM

Cosmic - I just noticed your signature, make note of mine:D

To name a boat "Titties & Beer" or "Camarillo Brillo" just wouldn't be right.

Have you heard the Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, etc... version of
" My guitar want's to kill your momma"? Killer!!!

Sorry to sidetrack the thread - back to regular programming.

cosmic12 04-14-2007 01:41 PM

Camarillo Brillo !!! I forgot that one, ya that would work:cool: There is some from Joes Garage that would work also. I gotta say that Thing Fish is probly one of my all time favorates. I would think this would have to continue in the UC section:rolleyes:-----OK back to Apaches

I've been kicking around the idea of one of these little Apaches all weekend. Then my neighbor calls with the find of another 13' Funcat that is in bad shape. I think that this will be project 2 for this year, I want to split the boat down the center and make it wider to see if I can get more stability and speed out of it. Will also change the tunnel geometry a little to really pack the air.

I had one of those and tried to get to run better by moving weights around and different enginge settings/props ect ect and could never get it stop reaching for the sky when you started out or to keep it from walking or squirming around at speeds. I wanted to try to do the split the haul thing and add some more haul to it but it seemed like to much work for what I would have in the end so I just sold it. Let us know if you do it I would like to know if it works

Here's what I've already done to the first one http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slidesho...e&conn_speed=1 The little Stinger makes over 100hp, we hope, will be off the dyno in a few weeks. When I got the boat the fuel tank was up front which helped get it on plane but as you ran the gas down it would mess the balance. I put the battery up front and the fuel right behind the back seats. I also added wedges to get more negative trim out of the motor, when I took these pics I hadn't I didn't have them in, but the wedges are between the motor and the jack plate.
I'm not looking for all out speed since this is really supposed to be my son's (he's 11) boat. He had asked for a mini-version of the race boat. Going to have a 5 blade cleaver made for it once we get it all dialed in. This is definitely a "bugs in teeth" boat, when I run it I can't stop laughing, its such a blast to drive.

George it's a 1990 21ft Bob Saccenti built apache with a 93 mercury 2.5L efi offshore, full lathem steering, stainless marine standoff box, hydraulic jackplate and trim, 280 k planes, rigged like the big apaches, i have never seen a 21 rigged like this one. Engine needs a sleeve and a piston but everything else is in great shape. $11,500
