Default Whipple for a Merc 7.4l MPI?

Do they make a whipple for the Mercruiser 7.4l MPI? Or what about prcharger. i have searched google and so forth but cant find any. Thanks

Whipple took the kit off there web page, they use to offer one, you might call them and see, the 7.4 [non mag] motors had cast pistons so you will need a low boost setup. [like 3 psi]

cast pistons ehhh....what about the rods?


3psi might not even be worth it...

set up is the key to making the engine live, if it is set up properly you can get some good power out of it. the non mag 454's had 4 bolt main block, forged rods with 3/8" rod bolts and cast pistons,

That motor has a cast crank, 3/8 rods and cast pistons. If you are going to supercharge it, keep the boost very low. Like H2XMark said, no more than 3 or 4 psi if you want it to live a while. Eddie

If it didnt have a cast crank i would of thought about it...Id rather have the engine around a little longer...

just for kicks anyone have a S/C 7.4l MPI (non mag) engine...how many hours on her and how much psi?

You could run either brand on that engine. There are kits available. We sell both kits. HOWEVER as already mentioned the internals are not forged which can spell trouble under pressure.. If you do add one of these to this engine dont get greedy with the boost, or it can really be a short lived power experience.. Hope this helps.. Jamie / Lakeside
