New Floor over teaK?
 

My Excalibur has the original teak floor, and I am tired of the "dirty" feeling it has on my bare feet. I would like to maybe go with some type of rubber flooring. I really dont want to glue it down, because I dont want to ruin the teak. Is there someway I could install the rubber floor onto a piece of foam that I could make it removable? The foam would maybe help keep it level too, as the teak planks are not 100% flat across the floor? Any thoughts?

if you can find some closed cell foam ,glue it to some pirrelli flooring or some other type of vinyl marine flooring, the weight alone should hold it down if done in 1 piece...

Why don't you just clean the floor? I think the teak floors are the best looking and classiest floors you can have.

The problem is my teak floor is from 1982, and there are a couple old grease/oil stains that will not come out because it has soaked in. I like teak, but unless it is freshly cleaned and oiled it looks like crap. There are all those small grooves between the planks that hold dirt and dust, and then when you walk on it with wet feet, it feels gritty and turns our feet dirty :(

That sounds like a nasty floor.... Isnt there a way to strip the wood down and restore it?

:evilb: :evilb: Clean with teak cleaner sand and varnish it will look like new or snap in carpet.

you can use a 2 step teak cleaner that should get rid of most or all of your stains and lighten up the teak for a nice gold color when you oil it and then a sanding to level out the floor , as far as the gaps between the planks black silicone is used to seal the gaps. Any flooring placed over the teak should be removable or allow the wood to breathe so it can dry if it gets wet.
